Looks like a 2 disc Dylan set is being released in Japan and will contain a sampling of songs from the Copyright Extension releases. Nice to see more of these tracks making it to CD - but gosh, I wish they would make them all available hahaha

Do we have a track listing in English yet? I’m sitting here translating it from the Japanese, but, if someone has already done the work, it’ll save me some time. Some of the titles are not a literal translation, so it’s not as simple to work out as running it through Google Translate.

Some do not want to wade through that thread. A separate thread is nice and handy.

  5. No - but if you get some intriguing titles if you do - The Boss of War or Skinny Ballad anyone? ;-)

Overall, looks a nice little set. Wouldn't it be nice on lovely japanese vinyl in a stiff cardboard cover? Ahh I can dream.

My favourite was “Sadness Endlessly”, which turns outs to be “It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry”.

I preordered over the weekend, from CDJapan. I already own the original vinyl sets, but it’ll be nice to have some of these tracks on an official CD.

The one I am looking forward to most is "Girl from North Korea" as google translated. Who says Bob isn't still writing topical songs?

Ballad of a Thin Man (May 20, 1966) * is marked in the article as "(Odeon Theatre, Glasgow, May 20)". However on that day, he played in Edinburgh, Scotland. That performance was released on The Bootleg Series Vol. 7: No Direction Home: The Soundtrack.

The Glasgow concert was 19 May 1966. That version of 'Ballad of a Thin Man' can be found on The 1966 Live Recordings.

So, my guess is that the Glasgow is right and the date is incorrect.

Nowhere in the original Japanese press release does it mention Glasgow, Edinburgh, or any other city. Just the performance dates are given.

The Harold Lepidus article could be incorrect on this point. It’ll soon become apparent which it is when we get to hear the track.

Hmm. If it were Bob Dylan Live 1962-1965 / Rare Performances From The Copyright Collections, I’d have seen it as a sampler for a rather tasty upcoming box set.

As it is, it doesn’t look as if that particular ship’s coming in anytime soon...

The 1966 tracks are somewhat redundant.

I see this in the same vein as Live 1961–2000: Thirty-Nine Years of Great Concert Performances, i.e. a one-off compilation to tie in with the current tour; nothing more than that.

Will the Town and Carnegie Hall tracks in stereo or in mono (as on the Copyright Extension set)?

I'd bet on a straight copy of the Copyright Extension mono versions. Unless, of course, they've found the original master tape for the BBC One Too Many Mornings, in which case anything goes... :)

Yeah I wonder if these will be a sonic upgrade. If not, I may not bother. I have all the material.

CDJapan is awesome, BTW, if anyone's cautious about using an overseas vendor. They are very good with shipping and communication.
