So, maybe my comprehension isn't all that great, all these tracks were released on copyright collections and one on Bootleg Vol. 7?

Assuming “Ballad of a Thin Man” is from Edinburgh and not Glasgow, as discussed above, the tracks were previously released as follows:

CDJapan is great but amazon.jp always delivers to the USA within 48 hours from my experience.

 

I’ve never had anything arrive damaged from CDJapan; their packaging is exceptional. Wish I could say the same for Amazon JP.

 

I’ve never had anythibg damaged, but yes, CD’s in jewel cases have arrived in bubble envelopes so I could see it happening.

Possibly. Although, there’s no reason why it should be so high in the first place. The full Japanese price is ¥2,800, which equates to around £19. It seems like Amazon U.K. are looking to fleece those who are wary of ordering from abroad, and think of Amazon as “safe”.

CDJapan are superb, but if, for some reason, there are people who don’t trust them, just order from Amazon JP instead. You’ll get all the same assurances as with the U.K. site, and it will work out a lot cheaper.

 

Amazon pricing can sometimes be quite mystery but can frequently work in favour of the buyer who preorders. Often they can price an item much too low, but that is the price the canny buyer will get it at.

Conversely, they may price far too high, but if this drops, again, the buyer will benefit from the preorder price guarantee.

In the end of the day, however, there is no preorder that cannot be cancelled.

As for CDJapan, I’ve used them before but can’t remember -is there a danger one might be hit for subsequent import duties?

 

Yeah, I understand how the Amazon preorder guarantee works. Doesn’t often work out cheaper for niche import products like this, though.

I don’t think I’ve ever been charged import duties on a CDJapan order. I’m pretty sure they mark every package as a gift.

 

Yes -have you seen the crazy prices on the upcoming Dylan Japanese vinyl in July ? Obscene.

For the most part, the same 60s titles you can buy in France for 9,99€ a pop.

You've been lucky as I have on a number of occasions. I don't mind the import duties as such, it's the additional collection fee imposed that annoys me. That's why I usually use Japanese eBay sellers. Their prices are usually higher than CD Japan/Amazon Jp but with no import duties they work out cheaper.

 

We’re Mancunian. We were born lucky.
