Has anyone heard it yet? Mine just arrived, but I can't touch it until my birthday next month.

Does the jacket indicate if it is mono? None of the online sites indicate whether it is mono or stereo. I'm hoping mono.

Are you referring to the SACD? I pre-ordered the SACD from Music Direct and haven't received it yet.

That makes sense since Sundazed already did a mono LP.

I guess it makes sense, but I hoped it would be mono. :(

  10. I have the new 45rpm vinyl and in a word.....STUNNING

Want acoustic guitar overtones clearly heard? got it.
Want crisp, clear vocaling? got it.
    Want scretching/howling harmonica? got it
Want deeply silent vinyl? got it
    Want superior packaging? got it
Want bouncing/decaying in-the-room dynamics? got it
Want angry/profound Dylan? "Masters of War" is stunning. Age 21.

Yes, I have the Mono Box set on vinyl, this one sounds Stunning. Enjoy.

Stunning is a good thing! I take it you prefer the MFSL over the box set LP?

Can you describe the jacket quality-is it Stoughton quality, a la Music Matters?

  12. Music Matters quality

MOFI for this one for sure. Beautiful acoustic guitar. "Hard Rain" is sweet.

Want crisp, clear vocaling? got it.
    Want screeching/howling harmonica? got it

Is scaring me off.. Are you sure that's what you mean to say? Does he sound like a human man or not?

Music Matters quality! Brilliant. Their jacket quality is certainly influencing the industry!!

Hard Rain is one of my favorite songs on the LP, but being the last song on a long side of 33 RPM is no fun. Probably sounds a mile better on the 45 RPM, especially with your Macs.

I've not heard the stereo mix in decades. Is Bob's voice in one speaker, with his guitar and harmonica in the other? Is there any central imaging?

  16. Steve,

Sounds like a clear, nasely human, emphasis on clear as opposed to veiled and smeared. I returned the only Sundazed Dylan vinyl I bought for that reason. Sounds first generation to me. A human strumming, singing and harmonica playing right in the room.

You've heard the Master Tapes, be sure to post your comments.

  17. I hear a more centrally defined image, it is definitly not hard right, hard left.

Could be they captured the room ambiance better. A very enveloping sounstage.

I am just realising now that I do not have a decent stereo version of this album.

I guess I will have to splurge for this.

I don't mean to steal Richard (from Texas') thunder - but the 45rpm MOFI LP I just finished listening to had a young Dylan singing, strumming and blowing his harmonica IN MY ROOM.

    Holy Sh**

    Stunning is right.

I really can't remember when vinyl was this quiet, this dynamic and just SO RIGHT.

No harshness to the vocals or the harmonica. The harmonica sounded "real" - so lifelike.

I know this might sound like hyperbole, but MFSL hit a 550 ft home run with this one.

    I ain't kidding. :righton:
