I have Before The Flood Mfsl and enjoy it but don't feel it to be essential. Nice sounding for a live recording but no wow factor compared to any of the other versions that I've heard.
'Planet Waves' SACD sounds stunning to me. It was a fantastic first listen. The MOFI vinyl is also a superb pressing.
I received my MFSL copy of "Plant Waves" today and like the way that it sounds a lot. However, on "Something There Is About You" (track 5), a very annoying tinnitus-like high frequency beep comes up in the right-hand channel, a few seconds after it starts and it goes on for a very long time. I wonder if that is on the master tape. It's not on the Sony SACD. Very annoying. Does anybody else hear that?
First, this incredible sounding disc. The MFSL sacd is the best I've ever heard this by a ways. Second, yes that high-pitch is annoying. But it's gotta be on the tape. I noticed it before ... At least on an older vinyl I have of this .[/QUOTE]
It's on the MFSL vinyl too. And that high pitched noise almost ruins the whole experience for me. I can't believe this release is getting such great reviews with this egregious error. I thought about returning it.
We don't know for certain if it is an error, art mentioned it is on an earlier LP. Maybe we should ask the label.
I still say ask the label, some have it, some do not. It would not hurt to ask on their Facebook page or email them; I received an email response from Rob Loverde the last time I had a question.
No problem. My copy will arrive today, but I probably won't get to listen to it until tomorrow night. (The same is true for the new Carly Simon Anticipation MFSL SACD.)
