I had posted this link in response to one of your posts earlier. The link below states that this isn't a numbered/limited release. This was the original place to have an "official" announcement that came early this morning/over night.

Not sure if it clears things up for you or not, but it seems to be a pretty good source.

It's always a good rule that the best time to buy something is when you know it's for sale.

My guess is that all these will be heavily edited (yes - even RAH "poets" rap) ... it is important to leave us wanting more ! Marketing 101.

Can we start a separate thread for people who have complaints about this set? This is already getting old.

If there is a demand for it and the record company doesn't put it out or makes it hard to get it will sell.

    And rightly so...

It's really nothing to get hung up about.

I still have a few CDs to get through from last year's box. I don't want to buy it, but I need it nonetheless.

I fear you might be right. Since this is a copyright dump & I'm pretty sure spoken words in a concert context cannot be copyrighted.

Im always haunted by my hard disk failing though .... and yes, I back up, but I just feel safer with the tangible.

FWIW, I have all the bootlegged stuff and all....But this is the most excited I've been for a Dylan release in 40 years! The greatest, and perhaps the most significant, tour in rock history!

But if it's not available, or not available as hard media, and the bootleggers make it available....it's supply and demand....and as crimes go it's not very high on the totem pole.

It's not a question of choosing to buy stuff instead of an official release but in the absence of said release.

Why do people get so uptight and high and mighty about it?

    "but with everything available now"

    Festival Hall '64?

The 65 soundboards on hard media?

    The 1980 concerts?

    The 1981 concerts?

    etc.....etc....

Too much to keep up with....but very excited about the new Australian audience recording.

I'm thinking all the talking and chatter will be there. Except maybe the "drug song" rap,
    which I will painstakingly re-insert.
It would truly be pointless to edit the talking out, since it is a large part of the mythos.

Much of the talking was kind of taunting the crowd

    This isn't a "copyright dump."
Those have been very limited releases not easily available (or for the Live 65, only available as mp3 download).
This is a commercial set, intended for wide sale. Just because it covers all existing recordings doesn't qualify it as a dump, in my opinion. I'm pleasantly surprised that this isn't another >$400 box with a 6cd highlight set for $100-150, and I exist that these discs will not be like the previous chopped up live sets.
Furthermore, the copyright dumps did not include previously released tracks, while this set does.

OK, updated! I was wrong, almost all of the audience tapes have been around the block... Except Melbourne 4/19/66, correct me if I'm wrong, but the whole show wasn't circulating, but this is the full show? Need verification.

The Melbourne audience tape is a completely different concert than the board recording, from the previous day.

Wasn't there a case a year or two ago involving a Hollywood film star (Bruce Willis maybe?) who wanted to leave his I-tunes digital music collection to his children but found out he couldn't?

He then wanted to sue Apple over it...something like that anyway

Bruce Springsteen's concerts are officially available as downloads or CDRs but apparently the latter are very poorly presented (no proper artwork etc..) which has put me - I am not interested in downloads - off buying them.

Unless that is incorrectly labeled... Elsewhere it says one show is circulating and it is unknown which Melbourne show it is; another states that both circulate.
