    My favorite Bonds-

    1. Sean Connery
    2. Pierce Brosnan
    3. Daniel Craig
    4. Roger Moore
    5. Timothy Dalton
    6. George Lazenby
    7. Peter Sellers, David Niven, Woody Allen (Jr.),

I've already checked off my favorite flicks. The two I absolutely hate--"Never Say Never" and "Octopussy".

  3. The best Bond film is "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." It's certainly not the best "Bond" per se, but as a film, it's my favorite. The skiing scenes are spectacular, and there's a lot more real emotion when Tracy dies in the end.
It's a real shame they couldn't have kept Connery on board for this one. I think it would have been the slam-dunk best for many people if he were the lead actor.

Woody played Jimmy Bond. He's my kind of Bond.... I much prefer the original Casino Royale where they play Bacarat rather than advertising Texas Hold'em like the yahoo serious, new wave Casino Royale did.

I got tired of the very concept of James Bond about 1972. Goldfinger is my fav. From Russia With Love is a close second. Bond, James Bond seemed a lot more relevant back in the 60's. All these latter one are shaken and stirred way past the limits of credibility for me. It's all become akin to a little kid who tells the same joke 0077 times.

Yeah! It's a great plot, well made. I have often thought the same myself what it would have been with Sean in the role.

Odd how I can't find my favorite Bond movie in the poll. The one with the Renault and Grace Jones, and the excellent Duran Duran recording, and California Girls (sure hope they fix up the muddy audio on the blu-ray version if and when it ever comes out).

And no Timothy Dalton or Remington Steele for me!

  8. I went for From Russia With Love. Ask me tomorrow and it could easily be On Her Majesty's Secret Service or Live And Let Die.

"Live and Let Die" is an interesting Bond film that combines the Black Explotation genre with the Bond formula...I actually like it quite a bit and it seems like the only Bond that seems like it could have been written for Connery to a certain extent.

Who would have thought at the time
that a ex Beatle what come up with
    such a brilliant BOND theme.

Roger Moore excelled as James Bond especially in this classic.
There is only one Bond imo however Sir Sean Connery !

'From Russia with Love' is the clear leader. 'Goldfinger', 'Dr No' and 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' next. With a better bond the latter might get the top spot.

I am relieved to see that, as yet, Moonraker has not received any votes!

Still remember sitting in the picture house when Dr No was first shown in the UK and watching this vision of loveliness coming out of the sea. Never been the same since.

So for me it has to be Dr No and of course being a Scot the best bond is Sean Connery.

Not that I am biased or anything.

The first six. The classics for "me".

I have no problem with Daniel Craig though, I think he's doing a incredible job with "his" concept of the Bond character.

Maybe an obvious choice, but Goldfinger is my favorite Bond film. It did much to establish the "rules" for subsequent films, but remains the best execution of the formula. For about the last 40 years, nearly every film has been a rote replay of that formula. Sure, they're all entertaining, but have little to recommend them as good cinema beyond the occasional innovative action sequence.

As for Bond himself, I'll go with the obvious again and choose Connery as my favorite. Second place however goes to Timothy Dalton. Of all the Bonds, he was the most believable playing an agent with a "licence to kill."

Agreed. "From Russia..." is awfully good as well, but "Goldfinger" is my fave.

I can't rank all the movies - it's too muddled. But I can rank the actors for the most part:

    1) Connery
    2) Brosnan
    3) Dalton
    4) Craig*
    5) Moore
    6) Lazenby

*Craig would've been higher if "QoS" didn't stink so bad. I loved "Casino Royale" but thought "QoS" was a clunker so it hurt my overall impression of Craig. If the next one's good, though, Craig could jump to #2...
