So recently, Mr. Elliot mentioned--almost as an aside--that he had discovered that the old Ryko/EMI disc of Hunky Dory and the new Virgin disc are made from the same digital transfer, with the Virgin having a few edits made to remove glitches and, obviously, different processing.

    And he's *right*.

Thus! A mission. I'm away from my Bowie discs...does anybody here have Ryko/old EMIs they can compare with their Virgin discs in a wave editor to see if this is true for other albums as well?

PS: As Phil noted, this certainly means that Hunky Dory is hardly a 24-bit master....!

  2. My original post did say that, but after comparing the two discs again this week, it turns out there is one edit, and that is in "Changes". It's right on the end of the line "it seemed the taste was not so sweet CLICK".
