    Rest in peace.

Pipeline is one of those songs that I usually form a specific image in my mind when I think about it. It was on the radio in the spring of 1963 (I think it was ) in the U. K. I always associate it with riding my bike up and down King George V Drive in New Haw, the village where we lived (our house was a few blocks away, however). Very far from surfing in Honolulu, but that's where I was!

Three Coins in the Fountain is my other favourite Chantays track.

Sad day. I have always loved that tune. Listening to it from my copy of Surf Legends (and Rumors) right now. From the original master-tape, (according to Steve). I raise my glass to Mr Carmen.

I never knew his name but I've played "Pipeline" a zillion times and like most guitar playing kids in that era, it was one of the first songs I ever learned.

So , it's sad that the first time I knew the songwriters name was in his RIP thread.

What is really cool is how far this tune reached. I figured it was just a So Cal experience.
