I have a temporary guest in my home that's been with me a couple of days. My neighbor recently purchased this. Identical except for rack handles on his.

I went in with an old impression of some Bryston equipment I had heard back in the late 90's-early 2000's that left a very firm "not what I like" impression on me. Pass the Milk please because Crow is hard to swallow dry. This 8Ω 300 WPC monster, 500 @ 4Ω, is unbelievably good. I never dreamed how good my speakers were capable of sounding.

At first I thought maybe the bass was a bit light, but came to realize everything was there just not accentuated in any way. Much less of a forward dominant presence than my Classe. Treble is smooth but not lacking in any way. The mid-range is very fluid and not forced at all. The sound-stage is huge and imaging and is incredible. This yields a more believable/realistic presence similar to a class A presence in smoothness and presentation that is a positive IMO. This amp. certainly shows off the inadequacies of my room though. :yikes:

If I could afford this, it would be mine.

I also have one and love it. If the price is too high, it seems like a low-risk purchase used (if one can be found) by anyone who likes fluid, neutral sound.

In my experience, good high power amps have an openness that is hard to come by otherwise.

Just bought a 4B3 without prior audition, just the enormous good press I see everywhere (including here ;)...being delivered Tuesday (1/30)...currently using an older McIntosh (MC2105) which I love and have been fanatically devoted to...(you Mac owners understand) ;).... system includes a Mytek Brooklyn PLUS DAC, Legacy Focus SE speakers.... can't wait to hear the differences the Bryston amp brings...

Our Bryston 4B³ review - this amp is much better than only good, so we decided that it should stay in Our system.
