    dears,
after a year with the marantz pm8006 paired with QA 3050 I’ve noticed that some high frequencies of piano seem harsher than my headphone listening. Especially jazz talking.
Now..something happens to my speakers? Or my ears are more trained and now are able to notice it better than before...should I change speakers!?!

There will always be differences between different speakers or between speakers and headphones. In itself this should not be problematic. My advice would be to only change speakers if you
    1. Know exactly what you are looking for in a new long term set, which is admittedly very difficult (perhaps you've heard a great sounding set at a friend's), or if you:
    2. Enjoy changing your speakers regularly for years on end (I know I do). This is also known as the Rabbit Hole...

It could be due to reflections in your listening room if your room is too live or the speakers too close to sidewalls, etc. A pic would help.

    Hi!

You have bought a 1,100€ amp and have spent 900€ for your speakers.

That doesn't make much sense to me. It would have been better to spent 1,500€ for your speakers and 500€ for your amp.

So, yes I would go for other speakers if you have already optimized your room acustics. :)

    Bye Andrea

andrea, ciò che sembra non è sempre quello che è .
ho inziato con un pm6006 e poi c'ho preso gusto e interesse.

what seems is not always what is.
i started few years ago from a pm6006 then i've gained interest for an upgrade.

btw 3050 are well balanced or was until last "monk issue"

Hi-freq piano notes are hard to properly record, plus they'll give revealing speakers trouble.

For example, now i’m Listening standard of Jarrett and it sounds so sweet and pleasant...maybe my ears can be affected by temperature or issues too..

It's probably a bad recording of Monk.

You can't expect your rig to make every recording sound nice. This becomes increasingly true for higher end systems. Although a great system will also show the good with the bad.

So should I stay or should I go? It's time to upgrade the speakers or let’s the qa3050 do the job? Next Tuesday I’ll go to audition some speakers compared, with some of these recordings.

    sure!
in the meanwhile issue after issue..the son of our friends last night, abusing of our distraction, has started playing with the banana plugs.
so i founded my amplifier turned off with a red light flashing.
according to the pm8006's manual, something happened that had caused the he protection circuit activation.
my final question is something could be damaged although the protection? something in the quality could be compromised?
    thanks

    Hi!

So is the Marantz PM 8006 still working?

Someone wrote here that this could have damaged the pre-amp in the Marantz.

I hope, that is not the case with yours. So search this forum for the Marantz.

    Good luck!

Then I think you have been lucky. :D

I was also interested in the Marantz PM 8006 but I will stay away because you can easily break the pre-amp.

Search this forum if you want to know more.
