No vinyl reissues of his core/early albums out. Not many available CD reissues. What's being done with his music?
I'd love to see Soul Sauce or Soul Burst given the Analog Productions treatment. Many other worthwhile albums from his catalog as well.
    Thoughts?

    Me too.
My uncles used to jam on him all of the time when I was little.
There really should be some high-quality reissues of his stuff these days.
It's great, great stuff. I love the man's sounds.

And The Prophet really needs a reissue. Spotify is my only recourse for now.

The Fantasy albums should be available, those are some of his best albums.

Check out Ritmo Caliente, Latino, Latin Concert, Mambo With Tjader, and Cal Tjader Goes Latin.

El Sonido Nuevo with Eddie Palmieri needs a freshening also.
I finally acquired a CD copy for a reasonable price recently.
A great album that's going for silly money.

I picked up a copy not too long ago. A little pricey but well worth it.

:agree: If that album doesn't make you move, you're dead man.

Soul Burst should be really be redone. The first and only limited CD release sounds harsh.

I was just listening to a bit of his stuff yesterday: Along Comes Cal & Solar Heat. I recall lots of LPs in the bargain bins of the late 79's, but I agree under appreciated and under released today.

I have a few Cal cd's. All are great. Maybe a cd package with several of his classics would be a good idea. The album with Eddie is just classic. Descarga is great. He had Coke and Pete Escovedo in his band for a while. Love Cal.

A cross-licensed compilation with Fantasy and Verve sides would be killer.

I have never had any trouble finding Tjader CDs (and even an LP).

    Highly recommended: "Hip Vibrations".

Lol, I saw a copy of "The Prophet" for sale, at about $1000, with $2.59 postage. But I got a copy for less than that later. It's pleasant, but not exactly essential. There is an amazing version of the title track on the "Soul Bird, Whiffenpoof" album, with Richard Davis on bass.

Look for authentic releases. That stuff takes the fun out of finding the real albums. Amazon shows lots of physical versions on real labels. Dig a bit deeper and third party sources are not too expensive. Second hand vinyl shows up around here with some frequency.

His Fantasy albums are in my Latin section, but most of the Verve and Skye albums are in the Now Sound section. Several Shades of Jade is in the Exotica section, and his 70s Brazilian album is the Brasil section. So that's where I keep his music.

His stuff (along with Kai Winding's) on Verve is fantastic. I wish they'd both get some deluxe reissues...

Forget ebay, I don't think I've ever paid more than $5 for a NM Fantasy or Verve Tjader. His stuff is very easy to find in the wild.
