I think ICSYHFH is one of their very finest albums!

The Hague was a bit too far away for a weeknight. But I did get to see the first Dutch gig of the tour in Groningen last week and hopefully Thursday in Hengelo and Saturday in Utrecht. And then we cap it off with Royal Albert Hall in september. My feeling is that this is now most definetely Camel’s last tour.

Den Haag has already been rescheduled for, I believe, August 29.

Yep. It was the first date announced and at one point the only date. Thought that it would not be a big tour but just a few select dates only to later discover it is Camel’s biggest tour since probably the 80s. However RAH remained the last date on the tour and IMHO will be their last ever. BTW, last nights gig in Hengelo was incredible. I confess to having had tears in my eyes during Ice when Andy went all out with his emotive playing.

Wonderful idea. Camel is overlooked by musical industry.

Summer of 1980 I was at college and my roommate was this British biker guy that had long hair and wore leather. He was the greatest guy. Every night in our little dorm room he would make tea for us and we would listen to his cassette collection. He was the first person to play Camel, Eno and Van der Graffe Generator for me.

I was hoping to witness my first Camel concert, and a meet and greet, in the Hague together with a friend.
It's unfortunate but understandable it got cancelled.
Still nice to have met Colin Bass, and that he took time to explain the situation to the fans.
Who were all very understanding, wishing And all the best.
A message, with some nice words from Colin, has been posted on the Camel website.

So I hope all goes well, I understand the concert at Hengelo did go ahead.
I am hoping to see them at the Hague in august, even tho I will have to go alone this time.

The original UK LP is excellent and likely the best version of this album out there.

We went to Utrecht because in the end of august i am on holliday. Luckily there were still tickets available. Man, as you said, tears in our eyes and goosebumps all over! And what an enthusiastic crowd. Super!
    Have fun in England...

    Camel - Moonmadness
    180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL
    • GATEFOLD SLEEVE
    • SPECIAL EDITION COINCIDING WITH THE MOONMADNESS TOUR IN 2018
    • LIMITED PRESSING OF 1.000 INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED COPIES ON SILVER VINYL

Camel is an English progressive rock group formed in 1971 fronted by Andrew Latimer. Moonmadness was their fourth album and the last to feature the original band’s line-up, and was released in 1976. The album has an overall theme but was a loose concept based on the individual personalities that made up Camel. This special edition coincides with the Moonmadness tour for 2018 where the band will perform their complete album in its entirety and other songs from their vast repertoire. It is pressed on 1.000 individually numbered copies on silver vinyl.

Sad but true. Many fans of classic prog know, respect and love them, but that is about it. Lack of a real lead singer, which prevented them from having any kind of mainstream personality, didn't help their cause.

Regardless, I am a big fan, especially of those first four records. Mirage and Moonmadness are two of my favorite prog albums ever.

I like the later stuff too...especially Rain Dances but Moon Madness is my favorite.

I don't think the consistency was there, on a song to song basis, post-Moonmadness, but they still kept writing plenty of great songs. The A Nod and a Wink album is particularly good.

Rain Dances has a really nice flow. Not a bad cut on the record.

Moonmadness is a great album but the later Sationary Travellor & Nude beat it on a song for song basis ie more consistent

To clarify, their vocals, which are very unassuming, are fine with me. They don't stand out, but they work given their sound and style. What I meant was the lack of a true lead singer probably hindered them from appealing to the masses on a wider scale. And that is a good thing, since getting a singer might have changed their approach.
