Agree, mentioned PJ in an earlier post, but one of the best (meaning favorite) string of rock records in the modern era.

You have to laugh when someone throws up Dylan as having the best 3 album run ever...and every Tom, Dick and Harry under the sun comes out with their own pseudo-obscure, kitschy, genre based best 3.

Yeah Sade is great man...but we're talking about...Dylan man...Dylan. Come on it's Dylan!

Anyway...just continue listing your favourite 3 albums I suppose...

    :)

  5. I'd go the other way and start with YHFoxtrot and finish with Sky Blue Sky (which has a few of their very best songs).

I have a feeling I'm not alone in not liking Dylan.

If blue cars are like finger nails on chalkboard, that's an appropriate analogy. That's what Dylan's voice is like for me.

I agree with the high ranking of Dylan's 60s peak. There's some very interesting stuff on his late albums, but his voice is too shot for me to listen to repeatedly. For the same reason I can't take late Jerry Garcia.

They'll never be topped. Dylan has said that once he did Hwy 61 he knew it was special and that even he'd never really top it.

I mean it's nice to see that so many bands had great runs on their level but they'd all pretty much admit that it's on a different level that they succeeded.

This thread after Dylan has been mentioned is more like "What were these bands greatest three albums in a row ?"

  17. This is just turning into a 'post three albums in a row' thread. There are some first rate albums posted but way too many of these 'trilogies' are being let down by one album of 'lesser' merit. Just my opinion of course. :)

There have been a lot of really good 3petes mentioned, I do not find most of them Trilogies. This is not a trilogy but a darn fine run.

    Ah yes sir...another stoner moment.
But how do you pick which end of that string of four? Start with kill em all and end with master of puppets? Or start with ride the lighning and end with and justice for all??

I will go to undeniable truth of life #1. If your argument against Dylan is he can't sing, you've missed the entire point of Dylan.
