  1. A comp of loose singles like Chris Hodge, Trash, and Ronnie Spector would make my day.

Yeah, I think we can count on everything being NR'd and re-equed.
The Abbey Road Studios guys don't change their stripes overnight.

EQ is not a problem. Bad EQ is.

While I wouldn't have picked that team to do the work, I'm guessing they'll do a much better job than the first time around. It's all relative.

If this has already been mentioned, my apologies.

    From the brutesforce.com web-site:

Brute Force is best known for his hit, “The King of Fuh,” the delightfully rude song about a “Fuh King” which was greatly admired by John Lennon and George Harrison, who discovered the singer and arranged the record for The Beatlesʼ Apple Records. Apple plans a compilation of their artists in 2010. Brute Force (www.brutesforce.com) continues to perform regular.......

    Not exactly true:
    http://www.rhapsody.com/badfinger/straight-up

Does anyone why Rhapsody has had Badfinger's Straight Up (w/ bonus tracks) available to download for a few years? The label listed is "Cat" and it's the only Apple owned music I've found there. I've guessed it was some kind of mistake that's never been challenged by Apple's skeleton crew, but it's had me curious... especially in regards to where any proceeds go.

  6. I'm in agreement with you here; perfect example of BAD eq is the Photograph: Best Of Ringo Starr cd.

I think the 90's Badfinger 'A$$' cd is wrongly maligned by collectors; to these ears it sounds pretty decent!

Bonus tracks listed here : http://www.applerecords.com/#/albums

Some pretty nice stuff, specially for Badfinger fans, but all the bonus tracks on "Magic Christian Music" should have really been on "Maybe Tomorrow". Is it an indication that "MT" will not be reissued?

Also, there seems to be no bonus at all on the Jackie Lomax LP...

    BUT...
There is also an album called "Those Were The Days: The Best Of Apple Records", which wasn't announced in the original press release, and that features Brute Force, Trash, Hot Chocolate Band, Ronnie Spector, Sundown Playboys, L&D Van Eaton !!!

Compared to the others, A$$ sounds like a heavy blanket was thrown over the works. Really disappointing. Haven't had an import sound that bad since ATMP.

And, er, this compilation is nice for the uninitiated, but not so for the completist : where are we going to get the b-sides and/or other singles released by Chris Hodge, Trash, Sundown Playboys, Ronnie Spector...?
It's nice that it has some real rarities (Brute Force), but a best of Apple not having "No Matter What", what's the deal?
Should have been a double CD!!!!!!!

Stranger, the artist page (http://www.applerecords.com/#/artists) features Elephant's Memory, whose recordings are nowhere to be seen in these reissues!

Seems to me a sensible move to use the Greatest Hits to showcase as many cuts as possible that are not on the albums being rereleased in their entirety.

    Original mixes, please.

  19. And a boatload of seriously wonderful B-Sides, like "Tandoori Chicken".

  20. Extract the disc to to your computer,
pull 250-450hz down 1.5-2db in Audacity, save the files and reburn the disc,
head straight to the car and blast it driving down the interstate. Worked for me!

    toptentwist,

The Beatles/Apple/CSN story I remember is that George was very interested in producing them, and one of them unintentionally insulted him by asking if Paul could/would produce them. The question was asked in a non-insult manner, but it annoyed GH, so their chances disappeared.

Of course, I have no idea of how I remember this story.

    DOUBLE ARGH!

I just listened to this cd about 2 weeks ago and was reading the liners, and it states that there would be a JT Apple Rarities somewhere down the line. And I quote from the liners,

"Among the treasures still to be released are an early version of Fire and Rain with female gospel singers and a gorgeous acoustic demo of Carolina in My Mind. It'll be worth the wait"

Well the wait (since 1991)has been frustrating.

Hopefully they're going to do a rarities collection.

Agreed. Thing, however: many of the bonus tracks aren't numbered, and appear to be digital downloads only. I.e., for Straight Up, the tracks are numbered 1-18, which are then followed by 7 unnumbered tracks. If you click on any of those 7 tracks, the "Facts" section notes "Digital Download".

    Somewhat unfortunate...

    Why wouldn't they be?
