The trailer hit today, and man, it is weird-city.



For those who didn't think Alita: Battle Angel took you through the Uncanny Valley fast enough, this film will really pick up the pace.

I dunno: I think there are some things that work really well on stage... and yet they don't really work on film. I ain't getting great vibes from this.

 

But wait, there's more...

It looks amazing, if I didn't know I'd think Del Toro got hold of it.

 

I know nothing about the story or the play I must confess but the trailer looks horrifying and creepy. Is it supposed to? I've seen horror movie trailers that aren't that disturbing...*shudder*

 

I'm no furry....but you would wouldn't you. As along as they don't moult.

 

I think it's weird and disturbing as well. My bet is that when it comes out, the critics will be polarized in each direction. Cats has a great story and terrific music, but I'm skeptical that it can translate to film, especially if it looks like this. It might have been better as a live TV broadcast or something like that, where I think maybe you can get into the fantasy (and with a lot less CG faces).

 

It's amazing this film groups together actors I'd never watch any movies they were in.

But WTF is Ian McKellen doing in this dreck?

I still prefer The Man They Call Alexander to Cats for some reason.

I don't think it's my kind of show anyway. I tried to make it through the stage version and it just seemed really silly and thin, even as something for little kids. Don't hate me, I totally do not go for Harry Potter either (at least not the films). Not into most musicals anyway.

I'll stick with the old Val Lewton movie Cat People!

To me, this is like Alita times 10, only without the action and flying ships, which is not a movie I want to see.

 

If this movie is anything but awful, I'll eat a bug!

 

Wait - are the "cats" in the movie actors motion-captured and turned into CG creatures?

I only saw it on my phone so I assumed it was actors in costumes/makeup ala the stage show...

 

Music isn't bad, but I can't agree with you on the story. There's really not one.
