FOUR cameras! (But I agree that it's dated and stagey, a little too much playing-to-the-audience.)

My wife and I were fans of the original series and were interested in seeing this. But after two episodes, we gave up. The show seems dated, the writing is subpar, and I particularly dislike the character of Murphy’s son which is not well thought out.

In particular, Corky and Miles really project too much for TV.

It is nice to have Tyne Daly though.

Weren't Corky and Miles married still when the original series ended? I don't recall anything about them ever splitting up. So far, that has not even been addressed on the revival.

Don't know how "young" you feel Patty Duke was, but I can practically guarantee you there was an older, character actor standing right next to her, probably last recognizable from a network show 10 years earlier, somewhere in the script.
(well, unless the other actor was also Patty Duke...;) )

I think most viewers ignored it in favor of the new Last Man Standing on Fox.

I lost interest after a few episodes. Not the show it was in the '90s. I'm finding Candice Bergen a little annoying. I have the last couple episodes sitting on my PVR but will dump them.

They committed the worst sin: they just weren't funny. I got the in jokes and references and still there wasn't a laugh in the bunch of episodes I did see. Just a half hour of groaners and people I hadn't seen or thought of in 20 years.

I agree it has been going downhill. The first couple of the new series I enjoyed a lot, but week to week since then it's starting to lose my interest.

While I generally agree with the slant of the show, there was no need to bring it back. Diane English created it. Want to guess why this show got a rebirth and many other cancelled shows did not? Oh? Because it deals with the media?

On a related note: Why did Will & Grace?

    Bin them.

I’m an advocate but I hate blatant stabs like this.

Harsh crowd here. I have watched all of the reboot except the last episode. It's definitely not great, but I like it more than a lot of other sitcoms I have seen. I get that it's all about the money, though, and if the audience isn't big enough it doesn't make sense to continue the show.

It seems like CBS and the creators are trying to put some make up on a pig. It probably isn’t coming back, so they’re covering saying that it was only intended for this short run.

CBS is likely hesitant to say that a tired remake flopped.

Next year they’ll try Good Tines.

That's what I think, I don't recall ever reading that it was limited to one short season until today.

That might have meant, they weren’t looking to add more episodes to the order for this season.
