Went with "Who'll Stop." I couldn't remember and had to look up what J. Fogerty said after the line, "Have you ever seen the rain?" I couldn't remember what it was Fogerty was actually asking. Have I ever seen the rain what? It is: "Comin' down on a sunny day."

Add "Riders on the Storm" to the obligatory FM rainy day rush hour drivetime playlist.

I'm really surprised. I assumed Who'll Stop The Rain would be the clear winner.

What's really strange is that these two "Rain Question Mark" songs were recorded only six months apart.

They're both great, but I always side with their best album Pendulum.

I'll go with "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" because I really like the Hammond Organ in it.

Most of you apparently don't agree with Dave Marsh who ranked Who'll Stop The Rain number 26 in his book The Heart Of Rock & Soul - The 1001 Greatest Singles Ever Made.

Who'll Stop the Rain, if only for the harmony vocals when they sing the title of the song

and the lyrics to the first verse are just perfect:

Long as I remember the rain been coming down.
Clouds of mystery pourin' confusion on the ground.
    Good men through the ages, tryin' to find the sun;
And I wonder, still I wonder, who'll stop the rain

Ditto. Maybe it is because Who'll Stop the Rain comes from a better album, imo.:)

I like 'em both, but Who'll Stop The Rain is my favourite CCR song, with Lodi in second.

Lyrically, Who'll Stop is definitely the more powerful of the two.

Have You Ever Seen the Rain?
    Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm,
I know; it's been comin' for some time.
When it's over, so they say,
    It'll rain a sunny day,
I know; shinin' down like water.

I want to know, have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know, have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?

    Yesterday, and days before,
Sun is cold and rain is hard,
I know; been that way for all my time.
    'Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow,
    I know; it can't stop, I wonder.

I want to know, have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know, have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?

    Who'll Stop the Rain?
    Long as I remember
    The rain been coming down.
    Clouds of myst'ry pouring
    Confusion on the ground.
    Good men through the ages
    Trying to find the sun;
And I wonder, still I wonder
    Who'll stop the rain.

    I went down Virginia
    Seeking shelter from the storm.
    Caught up in the fable
    I watched the tower grow.
Five year plans and new deals
    Wrapped in golden chains.
And I wonder, still I wonder
    Who'll stop the rain.

    Heard the singers playing
    How we cheered for more.
    The crowd had rushed together
    Trying to keep warm.
    Still the rain kept pouring
    Falling on my ears.
And I wonder, still I wonder
    Who'll stop the rain.

    I'm not surprised at all.

Who'll Stop The Rain/Travelin' Band was their biggest selling 45 of all.

Love both Who'll Stop The Rain and Have You Ever Seen The Rain?

Put me in with the "surprised" group that "Who'll" isn't a clear winner, mostly because of it's social significance---referring explicitly to Woodstock and implicitly to the Vietnam War, it's got more gravitas than "Have You Ever" (although that's clearly a great song, too). And certainly more than "TV"...that's Fogerty trying too hard.

She's in the bathroom on the right :D

Tough choice between these 2. I'll give "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" the edge. I like the way the piano and organ are used tastefully. And Tom Fogerty's rhythm playing really drives the song.
