I own all the DCC CCR titles, but I am itching for something new. Should I go for the SACD's or the new vinyl??? I am a fan of both formats, but can't buy everything!!!!

Haven't heard the vinyl, but the SACD's are absolutely awesome.

I picked up the Willy and the Poor Boys vinyl - sounds really nice. But I have no SACD to compare.

Did Steve master this title twice, or was the DCC version used?

Good Question. I have CF. ST. W&TPB's on vinyl and am wondering if I should continue filling in the vinyl or start getting the SACD's

The AP vinyl and SACDs are new masters, not re-use of the DCC masters.

...and they are stellar! Either the vinyl or the SACD's.

I've never owned the DCC discs either, but the SACD's are fantastic!!!

I suppose it would depend how your TT compares with your SACD player. If you have a better TT than SACD player, go for vinyl! Better SACD player? Choose the SACD!

Look at the bright side - you can't loose no matter what format you choose! :D

I really love my TT and the SACD player, but I are trying be a responsible adult and not buy everything. (four young ones in the house) But, knowing me and my obsession, I am sure I will eventually end up with both the vinyl and the SACD's...

    Such decisions....

    Steve,

I already own all the DCC CCR CD's and the DCC CCR LP...how do YOU compare the DCC CCR CD's vs the new SACD's? Enough to rebuy??? I'll never part with my DCC Gold's regardless....

    Curious....

Buy one format for yourself and buy the other as a present for your kids. That way you can have both and only feel a little bit guilty (LOL).

    David,

I have been collecting for 30 years, but that is a new one. I really like it. Can you call my wife and go over this strategy with her????

I liked the vinyl better. It was a great set. They have something that the SACD's don't that I find hard to describe. But it just may be that the SACD is more sonically 'accurate' and the TT, cartridge and phono stage produce a pleasing 'deviation' from reality.:p

I have to disagree with the positive remarks of the SACD's. Now, don't shoot me, but, I think my CCR SACD's are some of the worst sounding SACD's I have heard. My DCC is definitly better. I was a teen in the 60's and don't remember them sounding this bad. Like a garage/ alley band. I have a feeling the vinyl will sound better. Ok, I'll duck, you can shoot now.

Which SACD's (label, cat. #) are talking exactly about John?

    Dave,

Bayou Country and Cosmos Factory SACD. Love the music, but the sound??? I guess everyones definition of quality differs. And we all don't hear at the same level. A friend of mine told me the same thing. Take care.

Could it possibly be that you aren't used to hearing such a revealing top-end in previous CCR works and it seems kind of foreign to you?

Let me assure you, it was always there. I'm very surprised by your comment as the SACD layer just blew me away compared to the DCC's.

Can someone please help me? I just ordered all the CCR SACD's AND LP's. I am truly a sick and irresponsible individual....
