Does anybody here have personal knowledge on "CD Refinishing?" I've known about it for several years, but never found myself in a situation that warranted it. Not too long ago I purchased a couple of OOP CD's, and although each disc actually sounds fine, the scuffs and scratches on each disc visually drives me crazy.

I was thinking I could have them professionally refinished, which would cost me about $3 per disc, and supposedly brings the discs to brand new condition.

    Any info would be appreciated--thanks!

A friend of mine at a record store on Long Island does it and says they come out like new. He showed me the machine and I guess it somehow finely buffs out the scratches. I am not sure if it puts and actual new finish on it.

from what i understand, you have to be very careful to only take a very light layer of the plastic off. if you take too much the disc will not play.

There are two old threads, "CD scratch removal" and "CD refinishing" that should give you lots of info.

Make that three threads. "A warning for Ebayers" in the Classified Forum.
