I still like physical media as my master. I don't have to back it up.

Well, I don't buy cassettes anymore but that doesn't mean it's not an option.

(That is one nostalgia-laced rabbit hole I do not want to go back to)

The ONLY reason I had cassettes was to make best ofs from my LPs so I could listen in the car prior to the advent of CDs. Soon as CDs arrived, goodbye cassettes.

I buy the occasional cassette for about 69¢ to fill a non-essential hole in my collection.

I won't be doing that because it takes too much time, too much hard drive space, and only insures scratched cd's of which are about 1 in 1000 for me. Good suggestion otherwise.

Yeah, to you. But to those who grew up listening to mp3s, cassettes are an improvement.

Exactly what I do. Although I don't really look at it as sadly. In my case, I'm not sure my cdp is still functioning.

Very true. To me, the reason why CD's replaced cassettes specifically was that they did what cassettes were trying to do, only better. CD's were just as convenient as cassettes, but with better sound, not as prone to wear out and had more space. That said the more formats the better IMO. If someone wants to release on cassette great, even if it's not my thing.

    I still love my cd's.
When they go, i'm going to be crowding second hand sales.
I hope with eighty million sales last year they dont think it's time yet

agreed, but it's foolish to only release new music on cassette...

I actually bought a 6 pack of blank Maxell cassette tapes just a month ago! A true story. :)

I actually still use them, now and then, to make custom edited live compilations etc from my still-functioning cassette player.

And I do see those blank cassette tapes at numerous stores still. I don't think I've seen a pre-recorded cassette in a store for quite awhile though. :p

they just pushing the BS to regain control like they had with vinyl...remember those anti cassette ads that claimed they were destroying music? Hysterical...I guess they had regrets when they let the digital cat out of the bag!

I just came back from selling at a local music swap meet and sold almost 500 CDs. Make of it what you will.
