Thanks, I enjoyed reading that, and it makes me want to see the film again, even though this blog post tells the story point by point.

Peanuts is such a nice blend of humor and simple truths. I love revisiting those strips.

Could be wrong, but it sounds like the great voiceover artist Paul Frees (he played Santa Claus in Frosty The Snowman, 1969).

I have the first few books from this series. I love seeing the earliest strips. He had such a simple, unique style.

I haven't seen the strips for many decades but certain lines stay with me like Shakespeare:
"Even my cold cereal doth taste of wormwood."
"Well, my eyes used to water when I read and ate potato chips...you're looking at me like this wasn't a scientific explanation."
    "I'm infinite."
"MY COLD CEREAL IS GETTING SOGGY !"

So, here's a random fact. He (and now his estate, i guess) own the property on which a Hooter's is located near us in South Austin. It is supposed to be demolished to make way for more development- Austin is booming. But, somehow, the idea of Charles Schultz and Hooters just doesn't click with me. (I guess it was a good investment for him). No moral judgment, just a little odd, no?

I'm more offended by Hooters' lousy food than anything else, really...

Overpriced ala carte and the bad leggings are also problematic.

I used to have this game as a child. It was rather flimsy and didn't last. The dice wound up in my Dungeons and Dragons stash.

The funniest comic artist ever. Think how many punchlines this guy penned.

I was reading the interview with Whoopi Goldberg in The Complete Peanuts 1959-1960 and she believes Spike is an alter ego of Snoopy. It’s an interesting theory but I personally think she’s way off. What do you say?

How would that theory account for the strips in which both appear in the same panel?

    My thinking exactly.

I suspect she didn’t read the strip all that much except on Sundays. She’s more of a fan of the specials and of Schulz himself. She DID get to meet And interview him.
