It looks fine to me so far. We still don't really know what it's going to be about.

I like the trailer/teaser. It made me smile, and I'm a grouch.

Not enthused about 3D, because it distracts me when I'm watching movies, but this is one kids film I will go see in the theater.

That dreadful song in the middle ruins the whole trailer.
I hope there's just Guaraldi music in the actual movie.

I could take or leave the song, but it didn't ruin the trailer for me.

There are almost always going to be one or two pop songs in animated movies- it's how they cover the costs of production. 'Tis just the nature of the beast these days.

It looks better than both Alvin and the Chipmunks and Mr. Peabody and Sherman.

The teaser looks aimed at the Despicable Me fancrowd (when have we ever seen that many Woodstocks in one place :p) but I dig it; the Snoopy scenes are always going to be a little more "out there" anyway.

Light years better than the stills and earlier trailer. The audience is not looking at the fur details of Snoopy. Both the Christmas & Halloween specials(the two best)are represented well.Remember,Woodstock & Co. didn't exist in the early 'toons. The humor is primarily visual, which was a problem with many of the 1/2 hour 'toons-either the episodes came off as moving comic stips or the added material padded out some pretty lame storylines. These two scenes in Trailer #2 capture the best later Schulz, and Charlie Brown in the theatre is almost as good as the Muppet Movie.

Are there any significant studios producing hand drawn animation in the U.S.? (I've heard Japan or China still do?).
Any universities/schools still have it as part of their curriculum?

So would you want Snoopy to be the original version, when he was drawn a little more like a real dog?

In the '60s there were quite a few strips with Snoopy interacting with a group of lookalike birds. That was technically pre-Woodstock, though.

Then, in the '80s, there was Snoopy's "Beagle Scout" brigade:

    An interesting take:

Charlie Brown, Feel-Good Edition? Good Grief

  15. It is still huge in Asia. Traditional animation is largely dying in the West, sadly. Disney's wild success with Frozen will only embolden them to move farther away from the art form.

  16. I hope that the schitty autotunepop in the middle doesn't characterize the music of the movie, but agreed, the animation looks really good. They seem to have achieved a nice balance between the perceived expectations of a 3D-CGI animation audience and the look of the classic cel-animation specials. As a guy with multiple boxed volumes of the Fantagraphics Complete Peanuts sets and a couple of DVDs of the TV specials, I'll most def be checking this out (based on current information, commitment subject to change). :)

  17. Pretty well executed, save for those excessive effects.

well uh for one, he's dead :p

I would not be surprised to see at least some of Guaraldi's music present, though.

Here's the teaser poster. I like it- simple, and effective.

It kind of reminds me of the View-Master reels that used the 3 dimensional sculptures. That's a-ok in my book.

Look closely at this still from the second teaser trailer. There's Pig-Pen, Frieda, Violet, Patty, and even Shermy!

Wow! That's cool that they included such obscure characters!

I'm hoping we get a movie all about Pig-Pen. They could really dig up the dirt on him. :)
