Kamakiriad and Sunken Condos are the albums on 2 lps, both are likely on pressed on just 3 sides.

I pre-ordered the vinyl set, just seemed a good price, but I don't own a single piece of Steely Dan or Fagen on vinyl, only SD on cd. Had this conversation with my Steely Dan loving friend yesterday, which format should I buy on. He suggested vinyl for the Steely Dan and cd for solo. But I don't know. Have put a "reminder" in to cancel if money becomes too tight just prior to Christmas but I really fancy getting this on vinyl. CD set isn't cheap at £25, If that was more reasonable I'd stick with cd.

Not sure who or what I'm trying to convince here. The usual confusion when it comes to spending yet more money on music. :sigh:

I'm on the fence if I should wait to hear if these will be released individually.
I have an original Morph the Cat (pressed by R.T.I. mastered by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman)
and The Nightfly from 2010 cut by Chris Bellman.

Fagen is the only artist voice in his own catalog. Becker - and now his estate - presumably have a 50% voice in the Steely Dan catalog. Potentially (and apparently) a big difference.

Actually as stated this box is cheaper than a mint Original Kamakiriad ! That rather thin pressing is the one that needs an upgrade. Been audiophile vinyl of all the others.

As of today, you can pre-order the box on Collector's Choice for $99.58, and use the their 20% off code (ROCK20). With shipping included (to my zip code anyway) this brings the grand total to $90.61. Not too shabby. Cheaper than Amazon's $108.29, although they give you the free AutoRip version too, FWIW...

Any word on mastering details or the pressing plant used for this set?

    Just curious...

Which doesn't address the mastering on the vinyl box set.

    I just wonder why "Kamakiriad" isn't a double-LP -- it's a fairly long album, I think...

I bought it today (Newbury Comics was doing 25% off all vinyl) but I haven't opened it. Not sure I'm keeping it, not sure I want to drop this much on records right now. If the temptation becomes too great I'll report back with the info.

If anybody else has this info, it may help me fully commit to the purchase...

Ok. So I just got off the phone with Chad Kassem at Acoustic sounds
He opened a box and gave me what we're looking for
Morph the Cat mastered by Kevin Grey
Nightfly mastered by Chris Bellman and Bernie Grundman
Sunken condos he just said masterdisc
    Karmakirad he also said masterdisc
He did not have any idea where they were pressed
    Rarities was also masterdisc
Now I guess I'll open mine
    Hope this helps guys

Well... you just did drop what I would call a reasonable amount for a set like this. But if you won't open and won't keep it, what do you wanna do with it? Sell it? Return it?

I received the box today from Amazon - I haven't had time to listen yet - but 2 observations -

All LP's are in poly lined sleeves.

Morph The Cat is no longer a gatefold.

I am somewhat disappointed about that since it was originally a gatefold...

Plus I still wish that Karmakirad was a double LP...

Karmakarid was the first one I listened to
Did and a-b of the trilogy disc and the new vinyl
The cd was done well but the vinyl was slightly more open than the cd
Also the upper frequencies were more present on the vinyl
The pressing was silent flat and flawless and also stamped made in EU
    Not sure who pressed though
I would say this is an undervalued deal and really worth $100
I own the original pressing of morph and condos and Nightfly one step mofi and have not compared them to the reissue yet

    Just listened to morph
    Superb!
A-bd track one of the box with the original and could not pick out any really major differences in the mix
Vinyl was flat flawless and quiet
