Here goes...diving in the "deep end"..Something that intrigues me:I fully understand that the choice of turntable, cartridge, amplifiers, speakers and interconnects will aid or abet the quality of sound retrieved from a vinyl disc, and it is obvious that a great many will pay a King's fortune to reach the "Holy grail" of sonic perfection. The debate as to "best" is open ended and long may that be so.
Question is,there must be a point at which nothing further can be gained from the information on the disc:that said,is as much time and effort spent in the recording studio with regard to the integrity of the product?Have recording techniques evolved in the way that retrieval systems have?

From personal experience, a plotted curve of sound quality vs. cost is logarithmic. That last few percentage points of "retrieval" have something approaching infinite cost.

The "sweet spot" on that curve is purely subjective IMHO.
