We should hook up with George and shop at Academy Records in Manhattan one of these days. You can at least do some visual inspection of the used CD when you are in the store, something you cannot do when you shop online ...

Yeah He is about 200 miles from me. :(
Nothing that big here that sells used....Esp Classical...99% Rock.
I don't take any chances with less than 99.5% feedback.
Thus I RARELY get a VG or a G grade CD.
I like the ones online that are Ex Library CD's REALLY??
Any Library CD's I have seen are pretty trashed.....even Classical>
Then there is the stickers and perm marker all over em.

    Yeah, I hear you.
I remember the Wagner Tannhauser by Solti LP set I once checked out of the NYC Public Library. The set played like the Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture all the way through ...

And I had one work by Anerio...1st track on this CD that was it.

No, I do not. Didn't he have something to do with PDQ Bach? Isn't PDQ Bach some fictional composer, not quite related to the great JS Bach?

I gathered several classical LPs out of storage last night and have been going through them. I really don't need to buy another classical vinyl in quite some time! I will though. ;)

Playing this on the vintage Magnavox tonight. A Westminster LP set of Albeniz's 'Iberia' played by Jose Echaniz. It's packaged like 78s but is obviously LPs. Lovely. I've heard some of these pieces by Rubinstein and De Larrocha, fascinating how different the interpretations can be.

I have the Lindberg on CD. It's actually combined with a recital of French lute music (on a single disc). There's a similar disc combining English and Italian lute recitals.

To the member who asked in the previous thread... Marin Alsop was music director of the CSO from 1993 until 2005. She went to Baltimore in 2006. I don't know what connections she has with European orchestras.
