Love the Heifetz and the Milstein. Have the Perlman, but can't remember when I last played it. An exceptionally gifted violinist Ulf Hoelscher recorded it too, but I never listened to his rendition.

Brilliant playing and wonderful sound. (And all are contained on one disc!)

I just realized that I have the Korngold concerto as part of the Complete Original Jacket Collection, only I 've never listened to it. I will probably give it a listen one of these days.
The Perlman LP seems to be easily available on ebay but the Milstein might be difficult to find.
Thanks again everybody for your suggestions.

    Now playing......

    Dvorak: Concerto/Glazounov: Concerto
    Milstein/The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (Steinberg)
Capitol FDS original pressing in mono

    Sounds fantastic.

...or, as a smartie critic back in the '40s put it, his music is more corn than gold?

For the record, it is nitpicking. More polite to just shoot me a simple message.

This is the performance of the Korngold Violin Concerto that I currently enjoy the most. It is from James Ehnes and includes the violin concertos from Walton and Barber.

I have always preferred Bernstein conducting the VPO over the NYPO in his later years ...

As I've said ad nauseam I'm not a fan of Bernstein's conducting style, but I'm interested to hear why you prefer his later work.

I really meant Bernstein's later recordings, which were mostly with the VPO. I only enjoyed the recordings he made with the NYPO during the golden age of the NYPO, i.e. when Bernstein was the conductor ...
