What's the year on this? If it's from the 80s,it came out on vinyl.I would definitely pick it up.It has the same type of cover as the later Philips Lps.

This is the only Winterreise in my collection.I bought more because I want all of Britten's Decca recordings.

I never made much of an effort to complete a Phase 4 collection. I probably bought most of the Phase 4 LP's in the late 70's ...

That's the turntable I have, now with an Audio Technica AT311EP cartridge. I love it...and I know I will explore an upgrade sometime in the future, but it still reproduces excellent sound and has been working flawlessly since 1989.

One of these days (I hope) my Sony box will ship. In the meanwhile, Amazon tells me I will be receiving the Arrau cycle of Beethoven sonatas by U.S. mail today (on Sunday!).
With the Sony box and the EMI box, I think I will say no to the UMG mega-box, but I may order the DG box at some point.

Daedalus I haven't heard it all.....

I am correcting my previous answer-working thru more of the box revealed that they used the same cover art on a LP of the Franck Symphony in D Minor issued July 31,1950 on LM 1065. So yes I have that very strange cover art in the replica CD. So this set has 3 different recordings of the Franck.

Looks like the following recording is the only one they made. It added it to my early music collection a few years back ...

Sir Georg pushes the finale of the symphony hard. I can almost sense the sigh of relief from the orchestra on the last note.

Come to think of it, I may not even have any recordings of Sir Colin with the BBC Symphony on CD ...

Now giving the following LP a spin. Not quite sure why I decided to buy this LP some thirty years ago ...

This has been my rave of the week, never particularily liked this piece, but having got the CD of the Beecham recording this week it's in heavy rotation. Such melody!
