I don't know, but it keeps running out of power about half way through a cylinder, when it should be good for five or six on a winding. I think I'll need to take the machine to my service guy.

    Oh, not that spring? ;)

She is a different kind of baroque soprano from our dear EMMA. Here is another of her CD I like ...

I have no use for an iWatch, as I am an iNothing guy? Do people still wear watches that require winding?

Now enjoying the Pathetique and Op. 14 sonatas by Annie. Her Op. 7 is one of the duds of her cycle, IMO.

I like the version by Klemperer and Schwarzkopf. The Colin Davis version on RCA is my favorite and I have the VHS tape for the live recording as well ...

Yes, the Klemperer is my top choice...it's hard to beat Schwarzkopf's singing...

I found this yesterday for $.25, probably priced that way since the CD case was obviously not original and was cracked quite a bit. No back liner either, just the front leaf and the disc itself. I had never had any interest in this due to my being very happy with both the CSO/Giulini and Boukez, and also the VPO/Abbado...and I haven't yet collected a lot of Bruno Walter's recordings :hide: which is odd for me since I'm such a Mahler fan. This is truly an important window into history, and the transfer from 78 is pretty remarkable...I've only gotten through the 1st movement so far, but am really enjoying the performance standard of the VPO in 1938.

Now playing CD1 from the following twofer, a recent arrival from across the pond for a first listen. I like harpsichord music and it is great to listen to WTC that was originally composed for the harpsichord being played on harpsichord for a change ...

When it comes to the German Requiem by Brahms, I simply don't believe in HIP performance ...

I'm not heavily into classical but I love Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. I saw the Philadelphia Orchestra perform it with Giuiano Carmignola.
Since then I've purchased about a half dozen different versions of the piece. What's everyone else's favorite version...mine is (usually) this one:

Carmignola has been in partnership with Marcon on many baroque recordings and every recording I own has been terrific ... :righton:

The following CD is terrific, as it paired two outstanding violinists of the same generation in one excellent recording ...

I bought the CD a few years ago and hopefully can still find it since my filing system is not always the best ...

Yes, I agree...I own 5 other collaborations of there's. But I also have other versions of The Four Seasons (by other collaborators) and was wondering what version was everyone's favorite.

There are many excellent Vivaldi Four Seasons out there. While I generally prefer baroque performance to be HIP but I am not religious about it ...

Not sonically impressive, but Trifonov certainly plays beautifully.

That is a lovely box, I have the earlier incarnation on Philips. I hope they re-release the Schumann one as well.
