Got the SACD. Understand she & hubby just had a kid. WHY is she such a poser in photos? Kinda freaks me out.
On the turntable…nice and clean mono 6-eye. I have found that almost all of the used LPs of organ music I have bought have been in near perfect condition…like someone bought them because they were supposed to, gave them a listen or two, and put them away. Works for me
That Herz piece is lots of fun. I have a number of Wild's discs on his own Ivory Classics label, among them a Brahms recital that includes the 3d sonata. Never especially cared for that work until Wild, with his technique to burn, made a believer of me. What impressed me was not his command of the big moments, imposing as that was, so much as the exquisite delicacy he achieved when the music called for quiet poetry.
Just ordered the following recordings this evening from across the pond to give myself a few simple Christmas gifts ...
I am taking part of my family to BSO this coming weekend. Yefim Bronfman is the soloist. Live is the best.
The PDF file has 278 pages (two booklet pages = one page in the file), so I guess it's the whole book. There's a couple of pages for each album.
Bronfman and Bartók (No.2) sandwiched between early symphonies of Haydn (No.30) and Tchaikovsky (No.1) should be interesting.
Now listening to CD 2 from "Bach - Sonatas/Partitas" performed by Alina Ibragimova on Hyperion. Partitas 2 & 3/ Sonata 3.
Now listening to "Bach - The Concertos For Two Harpsichords" performed by Trevor Pinnock and Kenneth Gilbert with The English Concert on Archiv. BWV 1060-1062.
Found this one this morning as part of this collection on Google Play Music. Between your original cover and the box set's cover pic, the dude looks too cool to pass up. Listening now. Cello and Violin are my favorites. I am not a piano person, really. (though I like organ and harpsichord - weird)
Now listening to CD 1 from "Bach - Brandenburg Concertos" performed by The Academy Of Ancient Music led by Christopher Hogwood on L'Oiseau-Lyre. Concertos 1-3.
Really looking forward to the two Dvorak's CD's. Sir Charles was a specialist of Dvorak's works, just as Sir Colin specialized in works by Sibelius and Berlioz ...
Now listening to "Sumer Is Icumen In - Chants Medievaux Anglais" performed by The Hilliard Ensemble on Harmonia Mundi France.
Listening to Noriko Ogawa - Yoshihiro Kanno: Light, Water, Rainbow.. for the first time. Very beautiful music. On three tracks, Ogawa plays piano and a traditional Japonese instrument, one is piano and computer sounds, another is piano, toy piano and computer sounds, and the last is solo piano.
Now listening to "Codex Engelberg 314" performed by Dominique Vellard, Emmanuel Bonnardot, Gerd Turk and Schola Cantorum Basilienses on DHM.
