Now enjoying: Beethoven Op. 31/3 Chopin Etude Op. 10/12 Schubert D. 566 Liszt Concerto pathetique for two pianos (with Anton Ginsburg)
Another phenomenal SACD from this gifted artist. He plays with astounding intensity without resorting to unmusical pounding. BIS' usual first-class engineering copes well with his huge dynamics. And, per usual, he provides his own amusing and informative notes. This is an excellent recording. I still have a soft spot for the Karl Ristenpart version of the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante. Maxim Verngerov Lawrence Power UBS Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra EMI, 2007
I discovered this mono LP on a shelf still in its shrink wrap and unopened. It probably happened during one of my moves. This is maybe not the best pressing, but one can tell this is one great orchestra and conductor. Serge Koussevitzky Boston Symphony Orchestra Victrola, 1970 Recorded November 29, 1950

I read that he will be in NYC over the Chinese New Year to perform the Concerto for the Butterfly Lovers, a Chinese violin piece. Other than that bit of news, I have seen his name here and there, though I know nothing about him ...
Now playing: Gustav Mahler – Das Lied von der Erde (The Song of the Earth) — Ernst Haefliger (tenor), Mildred Miller (mezzo-soprano) – New York Philharmonic – Bruno Walter (Sony Classical)
What I would do next, in your shoes, is to rip those ceedees first and then rest of the ceedees printed in the same plant as the "rottened" set. Did that failing set actually came from that UK plant that had some production quality problems for few years couple of decades go?
Listened for the first time. The disk is OK, the sound is civilised & polished and the group is... well, Hagen Quartet(t). Merry merry Mozart? No tricks, no gimmicks - they aren't even standing on their heads while playing! -, just plain playing.
Thanks. I actually already have a full digital backup of the set. I just wanted a working CD copy. For about a year, I used CD-R for the two defective CDs, but I love the set so much I wanted a new copy. I am not sure. The CDs have "Made in EU MCPS" printed on them.
Now listening to "La Belle Epoque - The Songs of Reynaldo Hahn" performed by Susan Graham accompanied by Roger Vignoles on Sony.
Blimey! (Actually, I would do the same as you did if I noticed same problems with disks of that calibre.)
