This thread is a cheat - but I didn't want to start a thread on one little question. It could be a fun topic, anyway.

Obviously, Bob Hope's "theme" song - song he was most known by and the one he embraced the most was "Thanks for the Memories".

Jack Benny embraced "Love in Bloom".

But what is that song Henny Youngman used to break into? Sometimes he even did it with a live band (while he played terribly).

BTW, I love Henny. But what's the name of that song? Check out this clip where he heckles Milton Berle... at the 2min mark, he breaks into that song!

    What is it??

Perhaps not quite what you're looking for, but it's definitely THE song that he's known for.

That's Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, I am pretty sure.

Edit: That's two votes for Smoke...

    From wikipedia
"Yakety Sax" is a 1963 45 rpm single written by Boots Randolph and James Q. "Spider" Rich, and recorded by Boots Randolph."

Though most people (myself included) refer to this as the Benny Hill theme :D

    Thanks, guys!

BTW, is that "Three Blind Mice" that's associated with The Three Stooges?

The Three Stooges used another song in addition to Three Blind Mice, whose title escapes me.

Too obvious to say, "The Tonight Show" theme for Johnny Carson? Nah - they played it on every other appearance he made since that song debuted, anyway.

Steve Martin's would have to be "King Tut".

"Mention My Name In Sheboygan" is Bob and Ray's.

Carol Burnett: "I'm So Glad We Had This Time Together".

    Denis Leary: "I'm An A******".

    Sam Kenison: "Wild Thing".

Rodney Dangerfield: "Boogie Wonderland" or "Any Way You Want It".

I don't know what Abbott & Costello's would be, but it would no doubt be something performed by the Andrews Sisters.

With all due respect to the Blues Brothers, John Belushi's would be "Louie Louie". Dan Aykroyd's would be "Rubber Buscuit", though.

Towards the end of his life, comedian Redd Foxx always used to walk on stage to the "Sanford & Son" theme song.

I was at one of Foxx's shows in Vegas one time at the old Thunderbird Hotel on the strip (one of the seediest dives they ever had, now plowed under). Before the comedian came out, the stage announcer came out and announced they were going to pass the hat for audience members to help out Foxx with his IRS bill (!!!), because he had just been hit for about $3 million in back taxes. We dutifully threw in a couple of bucks, and then the song came on, Redd came out, and the show continued. Very sad.

I think he was dead less than a year later, keeling over from a heart attack on the set of a sitcom he was working on.

  18. That's the song/comedian I thought of too. I believe that theme song is called The Streetbeater and it was composed by Quincy Jones.

Kaufman actually had "theme music" in the form of the entrance music used when he wrestled.

On the album 8:15/12:15 a band plays "Billy Boy" as Bill Cosby leaves the stage.

We just perfomed that recently, with a guest soloist, but Don Rickles was a no-show.
