... and above all it contains a good recording of the very rare "We're Going Wrong" from BBC 9 JAN 68

Actually, I supplied that one - from a reel inherited from a late friend who had taped a number of BBC shows in the period.

I see that most of their appearances on "Monday Monday" show are missing.
Yet, a recent fan-made compilation of Jeff Beck Group BBC performances included included a previously unavailable recording of their performance on "Monday Monday". Just wonder if the same taper captured any edition with Cream...

    Yeah! Fun one too!
A guy posted here Cream 50th anniversary 2017-"Fresh Cream" Super Deluxe? claiming to have a reel of the Band Beat session (as well as the Oct '67 Top Gear unreleased Tales of Brave Ulysses). Though he had no intention of donating it to the community. He doesn't seem to be posting anymore. Anyone know any more about this?

Thank you, I'll listen to these when I get onto my laptop. I'm currently on my mobile and the links won't open on it. I look forward to hearing them though. The Bee Gees one sounds interesting. I love that era from them and it's a classic.

It's unlikely, but I'd love it if you have the 60s John Peel sessions from Sharon Tandy and PP Arnold.

I didn't expect them. Years ago I read a book about the Peel Sessions and it had a list of them all at the back. Out of the early ones those two leapt out as I love both those singers and neither are what I'd have expected to have been John Peel type stuff, if there's such a thing!

Wikipedia says these were omitted from the official release.

This collection includes no material recorded at Cream's first BBC session, recorded 21 October 1966 at Maida Vale 4, London and broadcast on Band Beat, BBC World Service, 21 November 1966. The tracks recorded at this session were "Spoonful", "Sleepy Time Time" and "Rollin' and Tumblin'".

Other songs missing from this collection:[3]

    • "Sleepy Time Time" and "I'm So Glad" from the Saturday Club session recorded 8 November 1966 at the BBC Playhouse Theatre.
    • "Sitting on Top of the World" and "Steppin' Out" from the Guitar Club session recorded 28 November 1966 at Aeolian 2.
    • "Traintime" and "Toad" from the Saturday Club session recorded 10 January 1967 at the BBC Playhouse Theatre.
    • "Tales of Brave Ulysses" from the Top Gear session recorded 24 October 1967 at Aeolian 2.
    • "Blue Condition" and "We're Going Wrong" from the Top Gear session recorded 9 January 1968 at Aeolian 2.

Yes, I know but it is easier to read if all of the unreleased tracks are grouped together. In addition, some tracks are unreleased while others are unreleased and unavailable.

The BBC version of Politician, recorded before that of WOF, has an additional verse (the third):

    I run this country
And I run that country over there too
    Well I run this country
And I run that country over there too
    So come on baby baby
    Let me show you
    How I’m gonna run too

Thank you so much for this. It's a really big help. Don't be surprised if a "more complete" boot turns up someday!

  22. Dondy

Since this thread aims at trying to compile an all-complete list of Cream's Beeb sessions and tracks, I think I need to add the info that there is another, hitherto (almost) unciculated version of SWLABR from the band's last appearance at Auntie's on Jan. 9, 1968!

That version is definitely different from the one that was released officially, appears on Transription Disc and was originally b'cast on Jan. 14! One can easily tell by Big E's different guitar breaks. It does circulate out there in collectorland packaged with We're Going Wrong, Steppin' Out and Politician from that session (and similar sonics) so it does seem the band recorded two takes on Jan. 9 and this alternate version was b'cast some other time than Jan. 14, 1968. Just speculating here, of course...

Hence, there are three "different" versions" in existence!
    1) The official and TD version with the two voiceovers at the beginning and the end,
    2) the original version w/out voiceovers and
    3) a really different version.

    Cool, eh?
    Cream ahoy!

Well, you are absolutely right, there are three different versions"!!!!

    1) Officilal release (from Transription Disc)
    2) as 1 without voiceover (available on LP boot "Steppin' Out" [Jug Records])
    3) another version without voiceover with different lead guitar and vocal (and the same basic-track) posted here by Colin H
    but now deleted.

I have received a request for clarification to which I want to respond publicly so that it can be useful to everyone.

    1) Rollin' And Tumblin' [complete] (8 NOV 66): I had this track through exchanges between collectors many years ago, on a tape. Surely many others own this version and probably someone will have digitized it. The sound is not good but listenable.

    2) Sleepy Time Time (8 NOV 66): The piece is actually cut at the beginning and at the end. To my knowledge there is not a better version of the one officially released.

    3) Finally, Jac confirms that there are two different versions of Swlabr (9 JAN 68). If we count also the version with voiceover become three.
