I was working at a hole-in-the-wall natural chicken place in North Hollywood in 1985 when X came in for lunch. I have a signed menu somewhere, but no pictures. Wouldn't have thought to bring a camera to work with me.

(As far as all those diners, I had a friend in the nineties who opened every CD I bought, and went straight for the booklet looking for the obligatory "indie-band-in-the-diner" shot. More often than not, he was right.)

 

Tom Waits at Duke's, the best breakfast place in LA in the 1970s through 1990s, housed at the time at the wonderfully seedy Tropicana Hotel, where he often stayed....

 

Taco Bell uses beef for their beef. That is why a beef taco is called a beef taco.
