  1. I think his irritating voice is part and parcel of his irritating character. It works for me.

  2. Chris from Chicago

Chris from Chicago Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes

Maybe. But Funkhauser's voice does have a way of grating on my nerves more than the others. Having said that, I've always had a crush on Elizabeth Perkins. So I'll put up with his gravel road voice as long as she's with him.

But isn’t that his actual voice? That’s how I identified him as “Super Dave” in the first place.

I wonder if something happened to Bob Einstein’s larynx? He certainly didn’t speak like that when he was younger. It sounds damaged perhaps.

I watched his brother Albert’s movie Modern Romance again recently which he was in. Made in the early 80’s. He plays a athletic shoe store salesman and his voice is normal. That’s a fantastic movie btw. Love it.

He seemed to have momentary yet persistent hoarseness to his voice when he was Officer Judy on the Smothers Brothers, though admittedly not to the extent he does now.

the show (Larry especially) seems more stupid, loud and annoying. I used to love it now I am not even finishing the episodes...

I just showed this clip to my partner and asked if she could identify the cop. Just before the end she asked if it was “Super Dave” because he had “that squeaky voice”

Larry has always had a stupid side, to the point that sometimes he seems, shall we say, mentally challenged. But I agree this season it seems more prevalent. I like him best when he is being cantankerous with people who are acting like jerks. In fact the stupid Larry seems totally opposite of the smart, cantankerous Larry, such as found in this video:

I liked the latest episode well enough. It's funny how much recalled earlier episodes. Like the fact he didn't want his girlfriend talking about him after they broke up brought me back to the episode with Wanda Sykes where he yells out the window and he is trying not to let anyone know about his sexual 'preferences.' Or the race to the desk recalled that wrestling match he had with the woman to get into the doctor's office first. And then of course long ball. And even the discussion of the play brought me back to the Producers season.

Mrs. Shapiro was definitely the funniest part of the episode to me though. I wish they had used her more too.

But... next week is the big one. The wedding! I can't wait.

An aside... but I really wish that there would be some way to bring back Paul Dooley and Kaitlin Olson too.

I didn't realize Bob Einstein (Marty Funkhouser) is Albert Brooks' brother.

    Larry: Speaking of crazy.
    Jeff: Yeah, I know.
Larry: I mean, what the f***?
Jeff: It is the new me. I am all in.
    Larry: The boots too?
Jeff: The boots too. I'm going for the whole thing. Women love it. They go nuts. The only downside is I got to keep f***ing my wife.
    Larry: Sick of it?
Jeff: Oh, so sick of it.
    Larry: Yeah.
