Beyond the biggest hits, what are your favorite Curtis Mayfield tracks, either from his solo career, or from his late 60's work in the Impressions specifically for Curtom (his record label, starting with This Is My Country). Feel free to include any rare material your aware of that is particularly notable (demos and such). Basically anything Curtis did from 1968 and after qualifies. I think my all-time favorite deeper-cut is this one... Click to hear from Youtube => Right On For The Darkness (from 1973's Back To The World) There was a single released, but the full-album version has a 'strings-only' outro/fade at the end that never fails to get me. Despite having been a single, I'm not sure if it charted, and it's never been on any Mayfield compilation that I'm aware of. What are some of your favorites?? And if you can find 'em uploaded to Youtube, can you please link to them?? Are there any post-1975 Curtis tracks that are really "must have" material? I think I've got everything he recorded under his own name, or with the Impressions -- everything covering the years 1968-75 -- but I've yet to hear any post-1975 tracks that have really grabbed me very much.
