This news has really put me in a serious funk; Dan and his Licks have always been dear to my heart.
Whenever I get the blues, I can always rely on their tunes to drag me back up again.
This is certainly the time to play a little Milk Shakin' Mama.
    RIP, old friend.

Yeah, that drives me nuts, brcause it's the best film of the original band. It's the Flip Wilson Show so I guess they thought they needed funny. But it does have Maryann at her cutest

Oh no. His first two albums on Blue Thumb are wonderful. Who does not love "I Scare Myself" and other great classics? A unique voice in rock music.

    Rest in piece Dan.

I had the pleasure of seeing him a few years back at a small music club. I had not heard much of his material, but went there with a friend who was a fan, and I was thoroughly entertained that night.

There was a hard core, but ultimately a bit annoying fan who kept yelling out requests between songs. Dan put up with it through several songs without saying anything, but after one particular number he looked the guy straight in the eye and said:

"We are not taking requests tonight, but we certainly do appreciate your input."

He said it with just the right amount of politeness, mixed with obvious sarcasm that the crowd roared with laughter. My friend and I laughed as well.

The poor guy didn't say a word for the rest of the show.

    RIP Dan Hicks
