Base on that sketch, this guy would be a good match. Mark Strong.

Wow! Had no idea Adrian was that old. Will say though, he's certainly aged well.

For one or two movies? Nothing, but when they hire a new Bond actor, they want him for a longer term than that, and that makes him too old as the series moves forward...

At 40, that's good for at least 3-4 movies and that would be before 50.

  14. Nope. This would be a terrible direction for any Bond anything. Part of being Bond is being male and able to rough it up with real rough guys and come out winning.
While we have been force fed a movie world style of brutal women there is not much that takes place outside our real world in a Bond film. Yes, there are fanciful special effects abound and some of the things that happen are far fetched, but Bond is not a super hero and does not possess any special powers or abilities that place him above humans.
Because of this the things that happen must be grounded in reality, at least to a certain point. As tough as a female Bond could be there is no way a 115-155lb woman is going to beat the heck out of a 200-260lb trained, skilled, hired killer.

  15. How does embracing the visual beauty of a woman make the man a single minded boor? The post points out some good looking woman and certainly shows them in alluring attire, but it does not degrade them, belittle them, or remove any other aspect of their being. It shows a photo and a name...you filled in the undesirable stuff on your own.
Besides, men like to look at women, especially beautiful women, and even more so when said beautiful women are dressed in a sexy manner. That enjoyment does not immediately equate to poor treatment of women and does not remove any other aspects of a women from also being desirable.

I think you're wrong, but I also unfortunately think there will not be a female Bond. It's an interesting idea, though.

Dalton did two Bond films and their well liked. Lazenby only did one, and some Bond fans rate his OHMSS very highly. I've no problem with a 2/3 picture deal. Fans just want quality entertaining James Bond movies.

I wasn't discussing an actor who's exactly 40 - I was discussing "40-something". That's a wider range. Take someone who's 45 right now and you likely get 2 movies before he hits 50.

FWIW, here are the ages the Bonds were when their first films hit the screens:

    Connery: 32
    Lazenby: 30
    Moore: 46
    Dalton: 43
    Brosnan: 42
    Craig: 38

Of course, Moore was the oldest but still made 7 movies, but that situation wouldn't happen again - they're not going to churn out a Bond every 2 years anymore. It's likely to be 3-4 years between movies, so I don't think they'd want someone older than late 30s...

The first Dalton Bond did fairly well financially, but the second disappointed.

"OHMSS" has a good reputation but that's mostly due to the film itself - Lazenby is almost always viewed as the worst Bond actor, which isn't a surprise, because he'd never acted!

I agree fans want good movies, but the lead actor is only one facet of that. Connery in his prime couldn't have saved some of the crappier flicks!
