Although all of the titles so far have summed up the particular era and I'm not sure Hallo Spaceboy does that.
The Nineties box could have one of these titles, which would fit quite well: *No Control *Thru These Architects Eyes *Looking For Sattelites
I think the 90s box being called 'Strangers When We Meet' is fitting given how different the era was to any other?
I hope the asterix after the Moonlight vinyl in the press release is a mistake. In the press release they specifically mention that 1987 Live is exclusive to the box, but the text about 1983 Live does not seem to have a similar disclaimer: “Also in each box is the never before released ‘SERIOUS MOONLIGHT’ live album recorded in Vancouver, in 1983. Originally mixed at the time by Bob Clearmountain, the double album captures Bowie on what at that time was his most successful tour. The artwork features shots taken by photographer Denis O’Regan. Also included is the 2CD / 3LP GLASS SPIDER (LIVE MONTREAL ’87) album, making its debut on vinyl (which is exclusive to the LP box).”
That’s a shame because at least Richochet made the picture quality of Serious Moonlight look HD by comparison.
Just woke up from a nice 10-hour sleep (don't judge me - back pain and politics), and my third or so thought, after "gotta pee" and "can I move?", was, "Dear God, what are they gonna do with "Glass Spider" on NLMD'18???" Not so much the song proper - he's had worse - but that background narration that is pretty much Spinal Tap's "Stonehenge" but you're not supposed to laugh. Then I thought, "Maybe the intro is not on the album! Maybe it was just used in concert!" Checked YouTube. Crap. There it is. I am Team Bowie '87 'till the day I die, but on that one, if I were MM, I'd be wondering if I could sell "OMG! We lost the master vocal on that one! Sorry!" Any odds on them just dropping it?
Yes TonyCzar I was wondering about that intro too. Really looking forward to hearing the rest of the track as I think it’s a great song but the drum machine is horrible! Gonna sound awesome with some muscular Sterling drumming and Reeves squealing away!
With them putting NLMD 2018 over 3 sides I doubt they would drop it. They seem to need more space not less but I would not be unhappy if they 'accidentally' hit delete on that minute and a half. Maybe they will lower the intro and semi lose it in among a revised intro.
Where is the Moroder 12 inch version of Cat People from the soundtrack? anyway, the mastering for the vinyl will be smoothed out vomit the like rest of these sad reissues. PASS
I am really excited to hear what Nico Muhly brings to the new NLMD. I wonder of Bowie listed him as one of the musicians he would like involved.
Apparently Phillip Glass was so miffed at not being asked to be involved he is now working on his own NLMD symphony.
Agree, the 2018 NLMD is missing Bowie's imprimatur on the final music and mix. I wonder who actually was in charge of these sessions, asking Reeves, for example, to possibly shorten a guitar solo by a measure, or asking the drummer to emphasize the one?
