Only three albums? Argh. I’m patient, but at this rate it is taking far too long to reach the 1990’s. Fingers crossed the box sets don’t end any time soon. I’m glad they added the Dance compilation, but it would have been cool if they included more tracks from the singles on Re:Call and included the entire Labyrinth soundtrack. Very excited for the new mix of NLMD.
Are you a fan of Trevor Jones's work? The only Bowie related track left from Labyrinth is Chilly Down and he doesn't sing on it. Personally I don't see why they include the opening credits Underground as well as the Bowie version. What other singles are you referring to?
Christ on a cracker are they ever milking the catalog with this box. In other news, that belt Bowie is wearing on the slipcover is super hip - does the box come with a repro. done in 2" English saddle-leather and a solid nickel-plated brass buckle...maybe? (I didn't think so. )
Babe Ruth? Babe Diedrickson? Styx's Babe? Pink Floyd's Babe (Don't Leave Me Now)? Sugarland's Babe (ft. Taylor Swift)? Wayne & Garth's Baberaham Lincoln? Or Babe in the sense of "here's an excuse to post a picture of Kate Upton"?
That would've made a better "David Bowie Is" souvenir than the Rebel, Rebel pencils they actually sold at the exhibition.
The song is awful, but there's no good excuse for not including it somewhere in this package. Is everything from the "Labyrinth" soundtrack here? Yeah, it's semi-entertaining to watch. Same with the "Serious Moonlight" concert video. But I can't imagine ever wanting to just listen to those performances, especially "Glass Spider".
Yes, and it's a complete show (unlike Serious Moonlight). Assuming it's the same 2CD set we got before, the mix leaves a lot to be desired (very, very thin).
I don't hate him, but I'm not a fan of his sound on his work with DB. I was very happy when Earl Slick returned to the fold.
Fat chance The drop off artistically from Scary Monsters is the opposite of putting out fire with gasoline As cool as that box cover is I see no reason to place a copy on display next to the other three
'Tis midnight on the East Coast, and Zeroes (2018) is live on Spotify USA [Edit: Sweet drum sound] Tidal link: Zeroes (2018) [Radio Edit]
I made my on air debut on 101.5 WPDH FM the night I graduated High School in 1987, The first song I ever played? "Day In / Day Out" which was in Power rotation at the time so I have a sentimental attachment to NLMD. That said, BRING ON the 2018 redux!
I agree, but they're going by eras. Lumping Black Tie in here would've just been weird. (Although I would've really liked a 1990 show as a bonus instead of all those single edits)
Yeah I know. I meant that since the date at the top of the press release said July 19th, one would assume the pre-orders will be available sometime thereafter. But the announcement was made on July 18th, the day before the date stated. I should've been more clear about that.
I listened to the new "Zeroes" twice already and judging this early, I'm very hopeful for the rest of the tunes. I always dug the three singles from the album, especially the title track, so I'm in particular interested to hear how those are.
Never really listened to this period of Bowie's career, so I'm in. Don't care about the box artwork though. The other boxes had a close up and dark colors, and now they're suddenly switching to a portrait shot, a white box and a B&W photograph...?
Is "Modern Love" added from the single B-side? That one seemed to be missing, so maybe it's there, after all. "Never Let Me Down"'s biggest problem was indeed the production, but I don't like this new "Zeroes" that much. That was one of my favorite tracks and, in my opinion, it only needed some remixing.
87 CD/87 LP and the 90's CD with some longer edits all still contain slightly exclusive material for the NLMD album. iSelect liner notes. Is the MM remix of Time Will Crawl the same as this box set. McNuly/Sterling are on both and weren't on the original. I guess the Let's Dance Demo remains RSD exclusive. Plus the 4-5 song Vancouver 1983 encore is still missing.
