David Letterman to retire in 2015. Stephen Colbert to take over.

Reggie Watts will be the band leader for the Late Late Show with James Corden.

 

There has not been a band leader announced for Colbert.

People underestimate him. He's going to do great.

 

Seems like a better fit.

 

Letterman needs to go already. He's starting to look like dried up old skin and he hasn't been really funny for a long time.goodby.

 

Dave will be on the Late Late Show with Regis hosting this Tuesday night. I could watch those two guys interact every night. Always a lot of fun!

I just caught up with this video/rendition of McArthur Park.

Pretty amazingly good. Will Lee does a really good job of channeling Richard Harris' phrasing, and I was surprised he's as good as he is as a singer.

It's great to hear the song performed with a full complement of horn and string players. Will on top of the plastic cake was a bit much, but the song is done really really well. And Will does an admirable job with the very hard notes near the end.

 

Have you heard Will Lee doing his cover of Len Berry's old '60's hit, "1, 2, 3"? I love his part of the song, but I'm not as crazy about the duet partners part, but still a fun little song that deserved a cover.

So between now and then are they going to be showing reruns, or will they be doing the guest host thing as they did for the Late Late Show?

How many Letterman's left and what's the known guest lineup?

 

The number I heard last week on the show was 12 more episodes left...

 

During Norm McDonald's interview? If it's only 12 left you'd think it'd be wall-to-wall A-listers(or Dave favourites) for whatever spots are left.

 

Seems like there would be more than 12 left if the last show is on 5/20.

 

Yeah I think that's where I heard it. Maybe things will pick up once sweeps start? Yeah either way, seems like business as usual over there. Seems like Dave is even taking more days off over the next couple weeks. I wonder how the media will react to his final week.

 

Yeah I guess it was a random number they through out. Looking at their Ticket Request page, it appears they are showing dates for 25 more shows to be taped.

 

Good god no. That would drive me straight to the Jimmys.

Letterman ending really makes me feel sad. And old. The original Late Night was such a huge deal for me when I was a teenager.

I loved it easily as much as I loved any of my favorite bands. But that was a looong time ago. Sigh.
