Good news their Shop is online again, at least up to HH, I was hoping to get the Louis Armstrong. DeAgostini Shop UK
Liking the Impulse ones with the gatefold sleeves. I'm reading The House That Trane Built, the Impulse story and the packaging was a big thing for Creed Taylor when he started Impulse. It costs them a dollar more. Just ordered Charlie Haden Liberation Music Orchestra, listened first on Spotify, sounds great.
Just ordered #33 by phone, very bad line to an Indian call centre, hoping that this is the Louis Armstrong as website not updated since their problem. Does somebody have the numbers for issues since #32? Appreciated.
Did someone mention Gil Evans Out of the Cool ... it was 56 in the www.discogs.com/label/605960-Jazz-33-Giri?page=2.
Will have the answer shortly - iPhone app is mental. 35 just dropped, but is currently refusing to download. Grr!
Not just Prestige and Riverside, also ECM, Contemporary and Capitol. If you go through Jazz 33 Giri and dismiss the labels it falls into line with the UK versions. Maiden Voyage is out of sequence however.
What about Alfie? Feels like occasional swapping in a Verve title for an artist who previously had a prestige or riverside title to me...
So probably no Portrait in Jazz up next. Wonder what happened to Ike Quebec. Blue Note not normally a problem.
You're right - forgot about those 2! Do you think it's licensing issues for the "missing" Italian LPs?
Possibly. The Italian ones were in 2011, however Prestige and Riverside are owned by UMG who also own Blue Note, so not a clear reason. Perhaps UMG are planning to license those elsewhere, or the licensing deal this time round with DeAgostini was more limited ?
When do you think the series will end? I hope Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard and Lee Morgan get a release before it finishes.
