Hi everyone, first post here on Steve Hoffman Forums. I've followed this thread especially for a while as a subscriber to this series. As a subscriber I don't have the problems with shipping just get these superb records dropped through my door regularly. Only one small issue - a duplicate and a missing edition was very quickly resolved. Posting here today just to give the heads up to all the cherry pickers - don't miss out on Ray Brown/Milt Jackson – Much in Common. Not something I would have normally brought and I'm a fan of most jazz, but this is superb - wonderful sound quality as with all the releases in the series, but the music is top notch brilliant musicianship great recording. Don't sleep on it. Any other fans of this recording out there Phil
Thanks for posting. I was late to the series and haven't been a subscriber. Will check out your recommendation.
Just remember that Diagostini do not press the records they are only the distributor under their name. It's down to the label to source manufacture and they probably won't want a rubbish product out there.
Oh I know, by the way I still haven't received the Joe Henderson LP, but they have sent me another Horace Silver one I never ordered! DeAgostini are by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. I've just sent them a polite and articulate but scathing email about it all. All I want to do is buy what they're selling, but they make it as long winded, mistake ridden, frustrating and stressful as they possibly can. It's a shame such a good product is in the hands of such an inept company.
After looking at the MPO website in the past I've wondered if MPO basically do everything on behalf of DeAgostini including pressing, artwork and packaging, and shipping. They have all those capabilities and it may make sense for DeAgostini to give them all that responsibility. DeAgostini negotiate with the UMGs etc, get the licenses and then contract MPO to produce and delivers the goods.
I e mailed them last week as both the Jazz and Beatles websites need updating. Did not get an answer as to when this would happen but was told that you can order by phone if you know the issue number. I did order one issue by phone in the past and all was OK.
This company do not have a clue how to sell their product. I've never known a business that makes it so difficult and such a long winded process just to buy what they're selling. On the third attempt and after over a month I finally got my Joe Henderson - Page One album yesterday.
Did anybody have issues 46 and 47 delivered in October as part of an ongoing subscription as my copies have not arrived? Richard
Hi, Ummm..... think I will have to email them..... as editions 48 and 49 should also be arriving soon.
Art Blakey - Count me in! I have the Dinah Washington album and it's excellent. Mine's an old West German CD and it sounds superb. A nice vinyl pressing will be special.
'Herb Ellis meets Jimmy Giuffre' has been one of the highlights of the series for me (along with Max Roach) - so much so I did a geeky video of track from it for my YT channel.
Does anyone know of any stockists in the Newcastle area? Was an original subscriber but not happy with the service so thought I would try buying from shops.
