My first "The Dead" show of 2003, we got Even So>October Queen>Deep End in the middle of set 1. I love "Evening Moods" but even I won't deny what "Even So" can do to a crowd. :)

I haven't heard that song. Should I just leave it that way...?

I like all these songs we're talking about, but only when played by classic Ratdog, that's 1999-2007 what a great run, why the hell he ever stopped that band I don't know.

I do think it got better over time but I saw a few rough ones that could derail a show. Better than Samba in the Rain though :)

You nailed it. The band was on a tear all the way through Terrapin>Drums>Space. Even "Space" was good. As my lovely wife said, "if we were outside, I could have danced to 'Space.'" Then, the cliche-ridden "Days Between" showed up, followed by a tremendously long, Dear-God-make-it-stop "Throwing Stones," signaling the obvious "Touch of Grey" encore. To quote my wife again, "too much Weir" and "was that a Ratdog concert?" Still - we had a great time. "Franklin's Tower" was tribal and groovy. Jungian even. Made me glad to be alive. And John Mayer's solos are darn good and increasingly organic. We'll be seeing them again if they tour in the summer. And one last thing - you middle-aged cats inhaling whippets (NO2) on the steps of the National Portrait Gallery are likely nursing some headaches this morning. Will you never learn?

Have not heard Samba either, and don't want too.
Don't think I've read anything positive about that song

Great review. But I like Throwing Stones a lot and of all the slow later-day tunes they could drag out, Days Between is not the most awful.

Headed to Atlanta tonight. Ticket says 7pm. What time have they been going on?

I'm driving over from Birmingham after work and trying not to miss any.

    TIA

Will be cutting it close then!

Hoping the sound will be louder at an indoor venue than it was this past summer.

Came on at 7:25 in Charlotte last night. Get there as early as you can. It takes a while to get through all the security

I was joking when I posted this on 11/21/17......but just saw on setlist.fm that they did it last night. Dead and Company premiered it the same way the Grateful Dead did.......in the middle of "The Music Never Stopped" at the end of the 1st set.

    Is "Eternity" next?
Maybe Oteil singing "If The Shoe Fits"?

Circumstances kept me from getting to catch the Dallas show in person last night, but found a good front row periscope and watched from Drums on. Loved the Prudence>Wheel>Casey Jones. And the sign language interpreter was INTO it.

I forgot to add The Other One, which came out of Dark Star. Quite a set.

Wow that does suck for Mayer and the band. (wonder if his appendix busted down on Bourbon Street -- sorry had to do it -- hopefully the recovery is quick.)

Caught the webcast of the Austin show - that 2nd set was indeed great --- Mayer and Weir even did a few bunny hops during China/Rider.

Sucks, but I'm guessing that means we'll get a Spring tour for sure so they can make this (and likely the Florida) date up. Come on back to TX, boys!

Man, today started with all the excitement of a kid on Christmas morning for me. I had arranged to be working at a hospital close to New Orleans today and tomorrow. I scored excellent VIP package tickets to the Dead and Company show tonight at the Smoothie King Center. Mid morning the news broke that John Mayer was admitted to a local hospital for emergency appendectomy and like a puff of smoke my night evaporated. My brother and I were going to have a nice dinner walking distance away where we enjoyed some killer New Orleans fish earlier this year before the Roger Waters show. Had hotel room next to arena. All 3 little kids at home healthy and my yard pass granted free and clear from my wife. Rats. Such is life. Fingers crossed the re-scheduled date doesn’t fall on a call night. This would have been my 1st “Dead” show. Majorly bummed out.
