Decent preamp under $100?

    Hopefully there is such an animal. Cheap ones on Amazon get good reviews, but seems like they all do. From what I've read those can't all be good.

    Sub $50 would be nice, Xmas is killing me this year. :)

    Used Adcom preamps - like the 555 and the GTP-400 or GTP-350 - can be bought for a touch more than $100 - like the ~$150 I paid for my GFP-555. It might be worth the stretch - or maybe not - depending on the type of source you use (phono, for example).

    My bad, but that is a phono preamp for a turntable. I wrongly made that assumption from the post. If you are looking for a preamp, this won't work.

    Note—this is a passive preamp. No phono stage. In some situations, a passive pre will not work.

    You looking for a standalone phono preamp (should really be called a "phono stage" for clarity), a line level preamp, or a preamp that does both line and phono here?
