...my BIG question being, with they play full sets? Or just one of those an hour apiece kind of things? (In which case, I'm probably out, I dislike those kind of things. Instead of feeling like I got more for my money, they make me feel half-full of each band and dissatisfied. Though I'd really like to see both bands again, at what I think is a good time for each...)

If they are playing full sets that's a great pairing. With those two I can't imagine it wouldn't be. Hmmm, any idea who they've got to fill Jon Lord's shoes?

I have only been a Deep Purple for the last 20 years.Last time DP came around my neck of the woods, was in 2003 when they toured with Dio and Scorpions.I missed that show.I won't be missing this one, seeing as how this will probably be my last chance. As for Judas Priest,I'm sure they still put on a good show, but with out KK and Glenn,I'm just not that excited.
Now,my question is,who is the opening act?I am assuming Priest are opening?

The way I have seen it purple is opening. Why would the more popular band open?

I saw them with Alice Cooper last year. Both played a full set. Alice opened and put on a spectacular show. Purple played really well, but Alice's show would be hard to top to most people and some of the reviews on Purple's set were not so good. As a life long Purple and Steve Morse fan I thought DP played really well, but then again I am biased.

I still want to see a Maiden/Priest tour someday, you could throw Deep Purple in there too.

I had to miss Priest when they were here a few weeks ago because I was so darn sick. But
now they are opening up for Purple in August about an hour away. Just bought a ticket.

I'll buy a ticket the day of the show, perhaps from an old fashioned scalper if they have a great ticket.
If that doesn't work out, I'll get a lawn seat. If Deep Purple are the openers, great!....I'll get home early.

Retired guitarists or not, I wouldn't count Priest out. I haven't heard the whole new album but what I heard I really liked.

For me, this would be a fantastic tour, but it's not coming anywhere near me. Hopefully, they each get 90 minute sets and don't throw in a third act to "sweeten the deal" as so often happens on these package tours. When Purple toured with Alice a couple years ago, each band played for barely more than an hour and Edgar Winter played for about 45 minutes. Wouldn't be interested in that sort of thing. I'd be surprised if Judas Priest wasn't the closing act because they have had a larger profile in the US for years now. But I'd be OK with it either way.

This is one serious monster of a tour. I’d be all over this if I lived within reach of the track.

He sings the new stuff okay, but yeah don't expect Strange Kind of Woman to sound like it used to.

Are we certain it's not considered a double headlining bill?? When i bought tickets the page showed Deep Purple on top and Judas Priest on the bottom. In fact, all promotional material I've seen online was this way.

Its a co-headling bill, tradionally here in the US thats meant the 2 bands will alternate opening and closing.
