You got me all excited there for a minute.

Hopefully they'll do a real one someday. I've heard a few fake upmixes and they're occasionally fun and well done, but there's only so much you can do without being able to isolate discreet tracks.

Just thinking about Hysteria in 5.1, and Mutt Lange recording every string of a chord separately. The kind of fun someone could have mixing that into five channels is really tantalizing.

I've heard a number of people here say that but, I had The Who's Quadrophenia in 5.1 before it came out and they sound pretty much the same.

This is why it's in my wishlist. I'm pretty sure whatever is on it will be worth having for myself ;however, just in case it isn't worth the $30 I'm not pre-ordering until the tracklist is revealed.

3 Disc Set seems only the audio of the "In the Round in Your Face" release...

    Ummm...no...

He (very rarely for effect) recorded some guitar chords one string at a time - but not for mixing purposes (I can't even imagine what the benefit of that would be for mixing). He did it to accomplish something that it is impossible to do in reality on a guitar - hit all the strings/notes of the chord simultaneously like you can do on a keyboard. When you strum a chord on a guitar you are only hitting one note at a time, but if you play each note individually one at a time exactly on the beat (and each on a separate track - or have multiple guitarists do it in real time simultaneously I suppose) then all the notes of the chord will hit simultaneously. Its nothing to do with "mixing the chord to taste" - which I would imagine would lead to disastrous sonic results anyway - as what's the point of giving each individual note of a chord its own volume, reverb, compression etc... settings. How could that possibly sound good? One note of a chord is louder than the rest, another note has more reverb than the rest etc... yuk!!

Is the remastered Hysteria being issued in a 24 Bit format?

Well, they get points for making Hysteria a double album this time around rather than cramming it all on one slab of vinyl.

While tracklist looks good, I'm not holding my breath

Previous deluxe editions have all been brickwalled and over eq'd

I still miss a proper stereo and 5.1 remix

In the entire history of Super Deluxe box sets, have the "extra" discs ever been released separately? I really want the "In The Round" discs but also don't feel like shelling out over $100 for the whole thing. I'm also shocked/dismayed that there's no talk of putting "In The Round" on blu-ray.

I wonder why they didn't go with the b-side versions here. Did they lose the masters?

On another note, the packaging looks very nice. It's tempting, but I'm only going for the 2LP vinyl as I already own all the other material across different releases (CD singles, In The Round DVD, Classic Albums DVD, etc.).

I'm happy with the 2CD deluxe from a few years ago, but this is tempting. The packaging looks awesome. And that "Classic Albums" doc is really good. It was available on Netflix for a while.

    Lord, no.
If they're going into the vaults, why can't they do Pyromania or High N Dry? Why not do that Pyromania residency in Vegas that they teased a few years back? I don't need an extended version of Are You Excitable?.
