Denise Nickerson, the actress who famously played Violet in "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory," is in critical condition after suffering a stroke.

In late June, a Facebook group was started to help support the former actress.

According to TMZ, Denise is in the intensive care unit and has had a pacemaker put in. She is being fed through feeding tubes.

    Very sorry to hear that.

I loved her as Amy Jennings and Norah Collins. And I loved Norah's curls!

I won't try to diagnose what might be going on, but in the last 10 years she has lost A LOT of weight. I DO NOT know if she is battling something we simply aren't being made aware of (and not that it is any of our business), or if her diet consists of cigarettes and Diet Coke, but the lady has not looked healthy for awhile.

Here is a candid picture taken a few years back when she was in her late 50's:

  7. Oh no, that is very sad, I don't know what the best possible outcome might be but whatever it is, let's hope she attains it. She is five years younger than I am, she should have been looking forward to a lot of years of enjoying life with grandchildren or dogs or whatever she cherishes, now just being able to walk and talk appears to be a long term goal.

In August, Nickerson returned home to recover under her family's care.
