Anyone else hear about this? Here's how it's touted on a venue website:

"Denny Laine celebrates the 40th anniversary of the "Wings Over America" tour with a live on stage performance of their greatest album, "Band on the Run" --complete and unabridged! Expect other Wings hits such as "Live and Let Die", and "Time to Hide" as well as Denny's legendary lead vocal on the Moody Blues classic "Go Now" to round out this special anniversary show."

I'm not sure how much of a "tour" this is - Pollstar only lists two dates - but I'm interested.

Anyone seen Denny in recent years? Or this "tour"?

Saw him about a month ago. He's still got it. I wouldn't expect something of the same caliber as McCartney's solo tours, but fans of Denny definitely won't be let down.

He played a few years ago up in Concord, NH...I couldn't go but a friend of mine went and said it was wicked good. I had to console myself with the fact that I'd just seen McCartney live a few months before

Saw him at the Birchmere not too long ago with the British Invasion tour with Mike Pinder, Chad and Jeremy, etc. He was in good voice.

Errrrr.....he celebrates a live album from 1976 by playing a studio album from 1973? Bit arbitrary that.....

Denny Laine's solo version of "Band on the Run". Quite interesting actually.

Thanks! I wonder what other shows Pollstar has missed?

Denny's website is a mess - it looks like something from 1997!

Thanks to those who left comments about recent Denny experiences. While I'm not a fan of "whole album" shows, this sounds interesting, so I think I'm in!

Oatsdad, here's my comments about seeing Denny Laine performing "Band On the Run" live in 2014.

If you click on the little arrow at the beginning of my quote, you'll be able to see other comments... Including skeptics, too.

"In January of 2006, John Montagna, Steve Murphy, Manny Focarazzo and myself (Godfrey Townsend) played a week long engagement at
The Cotton Club in Tokyo, Japan. For six nights, we backed up Alan Parsons and Denny Laine from Wings.
This is a live recording from of one of the shows taken from a bootleg known as the "Tokyo Soundboards".
Check out the bit where Denny goes out in the audience and gets them to sing along... "Band on the Lun!!!"

multimedia » - Scroll about 2/3 down the page and click on the "Band on the Run" link to hear Denny Laine sing BOTR. Quite funny .

I bet that was a blast in Tokyo. Japanese fans are great.

As long as "Go Now" comes packaged with the proceedings, count me in. Here's an example of what one can expect to see if one were to step back so far in time that Denny was still fronting the Moodies, and the world had yet to leave sepia tones. But hey, they could swing with the best of them back then.

Later Paul and Linda would join in the fun and pay their respects to their mates from Birmingham.

And since no one has asked this: Will Denny include "Helen Wheels" when he does the Band On The Run album?

I saw him about a month ago and had a chance to speak with him one on one at some length. He looked and sounded great, very upbeat and positive. A

Denny in 2016(thats Hilton Valentine of the Animals looking for something on the floor at the start):

After the show, Hilton and Denny headed to the local blues dive and rocked until 2am on some old blues standards

Saw Denny Laine a few years ago at a casino theater and enjoyed the performance very much. I purposefully avoided making any comparisons to McCartney's concerts, because Denny only plays a handful of dates each year and Macca seems to be on an endless touring marathon where his voice gets a steady workout each night. Denny has aged well and the band he uses is very capable. One of the best things I noticed is that Denny is very down-to-earth and gracious, unlike many other rock stars from his era. I've heard the humorous conspiracy theories about Macca being an impostor or whatever, but I can attest that Denny is the real deal. After the show, Denny spent just as much time doing a meet and greet in the lobby. Nobody leaves a Denny Laine show without getting their money's worth. What a great night!

It's that early morning glitch on the Forum, where we get those duplicate posts. Oh well....

But do you think he'll include "Helen Wheels"?

I've been caught in that crazy vortex before too. If you don't get out of it in time, you end up in Steve Hoffman's sink, in the very bowels of the forum. And trust me, you don't want that. :yikes:

Funny enough, someone asked that earlier upthread, and was answered a minute ago. Answer remains the same:

I think May only was on background vocals for "#9 Dream" off Walls & Bridges.

    Right, not Mind Games....

Im having hard time understanding the posters connection between May Pang/Mind Games and Denny Laine/BOTR
