Did Otis Redding sell "Satisfaction" to The Rolling Stones?

Bernard Purdie wrote it, came up with Keef's guitar riff and played drums on it. And that's the truth!

 

The Stones ripped off somebody not named Lennon or McCartney ??????

Stolen note-for-note from Jimmy Page, but Mick rewrote the lyrics to sound more "authentic."

 

When Steve Cropper suggested "Satisfaction" to Otis, his reply was he never heard of it, Cropper then went and found it in the record store in the front of the Stax Studios.

That's how I remember the story from the liner notes in The History Of Otis Redding best of album.

 

Carol Kaye came up with the riff and played bass on it.

 

Nobody except Mick Jagger could have written lyrics like those, back in 1965.

 

In Keith's book, he says that the guitar riff was originally intended to be removed, and was a guide for the horn section that he wanted to drive the song. He says that his original idea for the song was for it to sound the way Otis eventually did it.

 

There seems to be a lack of R-E-S-P-E-C-T for Otis.....

 

Now that one Otis wrote.

 

I cannot see Otis writing this song.

 

And "Blowin' In The Wind"

 

Otis claimed he started The Everly Brothers....Frank Sinatra.....and LAWRENCE WELK!

Cool thread, though (bad humor aside), because all of this is TOTALLY new to me. I've heard none of this, and it's a pretty cool debunked story.
