That is not a re-recording - it's just the full album being played live.

I'm so OCD about production and sound quality aspects that that would never work for me! There is an artist in the 70's that rerecorded a hit song as it was going up the charts, for a new label, and it was clear they tried their utmost to copy every aspect. At 12, I could tell there was something fishy about it even though it was darn close. Sure enough, found out it was rerecorded! Now, if a particular title were marketed as such and it were done a few years later, that might be pretty interesting.

They did not re-record the albums. And the CD covers are additional slip-cases - they do not replace the original covers.

I believe these are the vocal tracks that were used for the majority of the recently released Roy with symphony orchestra album.

Not sure what you mean. They re-recorded some of the tracks during production which many bands have done. They did not re-record the album after it was released.

Or are you really talking about Beck's cover version of the album? Which I personally did not much like.

Sorry to be a pedant but Wikipedia states that RAM is an album by Paul & Linda McCartney. :)

I bought this version of the The Beatles' Let It Be. I do not own the original.

You beat me to this one and it is an album I did not know existed until a few months ago when I stumbled across it by accident. And you a quite correct, it is a fine album in its own right.

I bought this many years ago and enjoyed the sheer audacity of it. It is always good to have an old friend revisited if it is done well. I recall an amusing remake of Sgt Pepper by Big Daddy which was recorded in a rock 'n' roll/doo-wop which was heartfelt and amusing.

    A re-recording gets done in a studio.

John Martyn re-recorded and released a bunch of his old songs on No Little Boy in 1992. It is no more than quite good in my opinion.

There was a subsequent CD of re-recordings called Couldn't Love You More that I believe was unauthorised.

This is the one I was going to post. I strongly prefer the WB versions to the original versions on Cadence.

Does part of a concert album 21 years after the fact really count? I would say Gilmour's re-recording of Money for the Collection of Great Dance Songs comp is more germane to the thread. That was OK but pretty pointless.

I don't think any live "re-recordings" should count - not even the "live but not in front of an audience" version of Springsteen's "Darkness".

I think the thread should look at songs re-recorded in a studio and done in the "traditional way", not those played in a concert setting...

I'm going to have to go and dig this out. It's been a while. Earnest, east European with a hint of Devil Doll is how I recall it. I seem to remember that it missed out the title track for some reason.
